On Thursday August 21, 2008, Brother Marcus was joined by Shelean Thornton, who serves as a youth advocate, mentor, philanthorpist, educator, motivationalist, and evangelist. She has been educating our youth for over 10 years teaching them in youth and adult education and intervention, sexual assault and domestic violence prevention. Shelean is the owner and operator of Tri-Unity International Ministries, Inc. They have had a focus of serving the community of women and children for the past four years. Under that umbrella is the Girls Mentoring Program (Youth with A Voice). Shalean is passionate about what she does because she believes in Empowering our people to become well informed and capable of fulfilling a lifestyle of hope and prosperity. Girls Mentoring is designed to support the needs of girls ages 9-18, increase positive intervention skills, personal and collective strengths, competence and self-esteem. In addition it aims to counteract social and interpersonal forces that impede girl's growth and development that covers a spectrum of settings with diverse female populations and programs.
