Most conventional dog training focuses upon a reward/punishment model for changing a dog’s behavior and focuses primarily on the pet. Holistic Dog Training takes into consideration of all factors including the home environment, it’s relationship with its owners, medical history, and…the health and well being of the owners themselves.
Lisa Sellman of Aloha Pet Care and Dog Training in the Twin Cities uses all her senses and takes in every aspect of the dog’s life to accurately assess where issues may come up and how to address those issues in a w(holistic) way. Holistic Dog Training, by its very nature, is humane to the core. The wholeness of its scope will set up a lifestyle for the animal that is most appropriate. The techniques used in holistic medicine are gentle, minimally invasive, and incorporate patient well-being and stress reduction. Holistic thinking is centered on love, empathy and respect.

About Lisa Sellman: Lisa is the owner of Aloha Pet Care and Dog Training. Lisa began her company in 2004 when she saw a real need to provide humane dog training, and also private sessions for problematic (reactive) dogs that wouldn't work in a group setting.
Lisa learned about training dogs from many years of volunteer work.  She learned to communicate with animals by taking animal communication courses from Mary Stoffel. Lisa also incorporates ‘Tellington TTouch Training’ which is a specialized method that uses touch to activate the function of the cells and awaken cellular intelligence that is not only therapeutic to the dog, but alleviates the dog’s fear responses and thus makes it easier to train. Lisa also is auditing a master’s degree from the University of Edinburgh (Scotland) in Companion Animal Behavior and Welfare.
