The Gist of Freedom talks with Hurricane Irene victims. Paterson, NJ suffered historic flooding to the extent President Obama toured and supported the City. Paterson made history from it's very inception. Founded by the anti-slavery politician Alexander Hamilton it was established as a industrial model city. The Great Falls was the mechanism used to power the Silk mill factories, allowing the city to surpass the South's manual slave labor, the cotton industry. Thus Paterson earned it's nickname, "Silk City". Paterson is also the home of The movies The Hurricane, starring Denzel Washington and Lean On Me, Eastside High.  To view our newsletter click the following link
