Willie Jones has served the citizens of Dade and Broward counties in the law enforcement arena for nearly four decades. His years of service afforded him to serve the community he loves as a law enforcement officer, a law consultant, and a community activist.

Willie grew up in Miami Dade County, he was educated in the public school system. In 1975 he became a Dade County Corrections Officer and served there until 1980. As his passion for law enforcement grew, he decided to attend Saint Thomas University to study Public Administration.

Willie transitioned to the City of Fort Lauderdale’s Police Department, He candidly shares that the most rewarding of all his assignments with the department was road patrol; it allowed him to interact with the city’s diverse community at a level that promoted a positive relationship between citizens and law enforcement. More so, he valued his ability to connect with children, our youngest citizens, in anonthreatening manner. While at the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, he along with other black police officers formed the Alliance of Involved Minorities or A.I.M., out of necessity for the minorities in the City of Fort Lauderdale, at that time (in the 1980’s) Fort Lauderdale Police Department was comprised of less than 5% of black officers. Willie Jones was voted the first president of the organization, today it is known as Fort Lauderdale Black Police Officer Association, a vibrant and resourceful part of the agency. Willie resigned from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in September of 1987.

Willie Jones is a member of The Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his personal and professional success, he became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, a Free Mason, Pompano Beach Kiwanis (Pompano Beach) and Fraternal for Member of Police Benevolent Association.

He and his wife give freely of their time and resources to support the community.
