Guest: Korey Buckets

Born and raised in Southside Jamaica, Queens, New York, Korey Hines (stage name- Korey Buckets) epitomizes an eighties baby raised in the Hip hop culture. Buckets grew up in a musical family, with his father a percussionist and his mother a gospel vocalist; music has engulfed him since birth.

His stage name is a reflection of his propensity and passion of his favorite sport (he played basketball at an elite level since his youth). Korey Buckets is part of a music group called Pounds of Cake. Pounds of Cake consists of Korey Buckets, L.B. as the artist, and 3 producers C Lee, Beat Drop and Gnac Beats.” L.B is from the west coast of California. C Lee is from Flint, Michigan. Beat Drop is from Detroit, and Gnac Beats is from Queens. Due to them all being from different regions their sound is different. The Pounds of Cake sound is a dawning of a new era of music which they have coined as “Hip/Pop”.

After watching the ebb and flow of local artists, Bucket's decided to bring his unique and educated view of the world to this genre in 2004. Having appeared on various New York, Ohio, and California mixtapes with well known DJ’s from East Coast’s own DJ Lazy K to West Coast’s own DJ Muda, Korey Buckets has consistently been delighting ears with his lyrical prowess and memorable punch lines.

Currently, Bucket's has a new single out “OMG I’m ILL” with a video that can be seen on YouTube. His ”The Race to a Million Views” campaign is climbing to the viral stages as well.

Throughout his music career Bucket's has performed on many platforms locally and statewide, including numerous showcases with the Bobby Stone concert series throughout New York City. He has also performed at many colleges such as Wilberforce University in Wilberforce Ohio.
