The Apostle Luke warned the early Church that “through much tribulation we must enter the Kingdom of God”. And at no time in history was this tribulation greater than under Greco – Roman rule. From Crucifixions, burnings and beheadings to being sawed asunder or fed alive to wild beasts, the followers of Jesus drank the cup of pain, suffering and death to show their devotion to the one true God. Yet seemingly overnight the Roman persecutions came to an abrupt end. A young Roman Caesar with aspirations of empire wide conquest is said to have seen a life changing vision which caused him to covert from his long standing Pagan religions to Christianity. But where do history and myth coincide? The rise of the Roman Emperor Constantine began a new era of peace, tolerance and acceptance. And history surmises that Constantine was the catalyst that propelled Christianity from obscurity to the dominant religious superpower that it is today. But is this a Christianity that would be respected or even recognized by our Lord Jesus. Or was Constantine’s Conversion a skillful and diabolical attempt to unite a divided empire by amalgamating Pagan Mythology with Christian traditions Join us today for another installment of “From Darkness to Light” as we examine the centuries old question – Did Constantine convert to Christianity or did he Convert Christianity to Paganism?
