In most Christian denominations belief in the Holy Spirit is a mandatory part of salvation. According to scripture – the Holy Spirit guides us and gives us understanding of how to walk in the ways of God. Although the power of the spirit is irrefutable, its manifestation in the Church is anything but clear. In some Churches worshiping in the spirit represents endless hours of song and praise – yet in others it becomes a spectacle of supernatural insanity. Bodies fall and thrash wildly on the floor, speech becomes unintelligible, some even lose consciousness. Seeing this drama unfold leaves many wondering – Is this the Holy Spirit that Jesus Christ gave to his disciples? Or can it be better likened to another phenomenon observed in the Bible (Demonic Possession).
