In today's broadcast Bishop Peter Elder Hickman will be explaining the emergence of a new expression of a very ancient Catholic Tradition called the Ecumenical Catholic Communion part 2. In September of 2003 there was a gathering of consciensious Catholic Christians from eleven Catholic communities, independent of Papal jurisdiction, in order to form an ecclessial body that would bring together the scattered sheep of the Catholic Church that had been marginalized and excluded from the life of other established Catholic institutions. A constitution was written and affirmed and so a the new Communion of Catholic communities was formed. In the formation of this new organization of Catholic Christians an ancient and older Catholic tradition was revived, conciliarism. Conciliarism is the belief that ultimate authority is derived from Jesus Christ and expressed through the Ecumenical Councils of the Church at every level. Join us as we now examine the origin and development of what would become the Ecumenical Catholic Communion, a new way to practice a very ancient tradition.
