On Friday, January 20th at 9:30 a.m., SAW Board Member and Open Stage Radio show host Michelle Murray will interview award-winning songwriter Laurence Baer, who has won several awards, including a Gold award in SAW’s 33rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC). Laurence Baer is a singer/songwriter based in Columbia, MD.   His first CD, "Across a Bering Strait Bridge" was released in 2007.  In 2009 his song White Pass Railroad was recorded by the Del McCoury Band on their Grammy Nominated "Family Circle" CD.   His second (double) CD, "Across Time" was released in 2015, and was nominated for Bluegrass CD of the Year at the Wammies.   Songs from that project were honored at numerous songwriting competitions including:  MASC 32, the Great American Song Contest 17, and MASC 33.  Two of the songs each charted on internet radio for 14 weeks, reaching #6 and #5 respectively on the Top Indie charts. Laurence Baer’s most recent award is a Gold award in SAW’s 33rd Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest; and he will perform during the MASC Gala this Sunday, January 22, at Jammin’ Java in Vienna VA.
