Desiree Moore discusses the experience of the first-year law firm associate with host Tara Kachaturoff. Desiree Moore is the founder and President of Greenhorn Legal, a three-day intensive training program for law students and new lawyers as they transition from academics into private practice. Greenhorn Legal recognizes that the skills learned in law school are necessary, but far from sufficient, to enable young lawyers to thrive in their legal practice. Likewise, an academic environment in no way resembles a professional environment and new lawyers are left without the means to assimilate into law firms. Greenhorn Legal aims to equip new lawyers with the personal skills, practical skills and business sense to succeed in a law firm. Ms. Moore is an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and was an associate at the law firm of K&L Gates LLP (formerly Bell, Boyd & Lloyd, LLP) in Chicago for six years. In 2011, Ms. Moore left K&L Gates to launch Greenhorn Legal.
