Who is the world "set up" for? One's first thought might be adults. But a more correct answer would be non-disabled adults. Ableism occurs when non-disabled people assign inferior value or worth to people who have developmental, emotional, physical or psychiatric disabilities. Disablism promotes unequal treatment of people because of actual, or presumed, disabilities they may have.

Talkupy with Annie Lindstrom welcomes Heather De Mian to the show to talk about how ableism impacts people's lives and the effort to educate people about how they can help Stop Ableism, on Thursday, Jan. 15  at 11 a.m. ET.

We'll also talk about Heather's work as a indy journalist and livestreamer in Ferguson, MO covering Mike Brown and BlackLivesMatter actions, and her life as an activist before August 9, 2014.
