This is a show not to be missed! Your gracious host Ernest will be joined by a voice and an attitude that is yet unmatched - that being the awesome YahZarah.

Wait, 'who is YayZarah', you ask? YahZarah, a singer-songwriter who first made her mark as a background singer for Erykah Badu, has spent the past few years touring in support of her albums Hear Me (2001). A follow up LP, 2003’s Blackstar, was issued on the Three Keys label and reached #44 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. Following that was 2008’s The Prelude.

She worked on The Ballad of Purple St. James independently for a number of years before reaching out to Phonte (a longtime friend and fellow NC Central music student), and finally selecting +FE Music as her label home.

YahZarah and her badass self will join us LIVE. Tune in to hear tracks from her new record (which is off the charts, ya'll!), and our sure-to-be fun talk with her. Also, hear the song that Ernest calls "the ballad Prince wishes he could write today". The chat room and phone lines will be open.

The Dream Citadel Evolution Show- Artist Spotlight (YahZarah)

    in Entertainment

YahZarah (born Dana Nicole Williams) is a classically trained R & B singer-songwriter based out of Durham, NC. Her stagename, a dedication to her grandmothers Yah and Sarah, roughly translates to ''Queen Mother is the brightest star'' in Arabic.

Born and raised in Washington DC, YahZarah started singing at the age of 7 in her church choir. Her love for performance began after winning a youth talent search at the Kennedy Center at age 10. After years of honing her talent in churches, talent shows and local concerts, she entered high school at DC’s prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts. Upon graduation in 1997, she was accepted to North Carolina Central University in Durham on a full scholarship to the school’s jazz program. In 1998, she left NC Central and began touring as a background singer for Erykah Badu. While touring, YahZarah contributed background vocals and vocal arrangements to Badu's platinum-selling "Mama's Gun" LP. In 2001, she left the Mama's Gun tour and went on to pursue her solo career.

    in Politics

Tonight Jane and copmany are hosting an open mic night.  1.347.989.1942 - phones will be open.

Actually, Jane is late to her own show.  So after an opening song by the fabulous Yahzarah, co-host Jon Yoder, and producer Ernest Sewell, take over the show, and give Jane a bit of the business, as they say.  The topic sways from a Holocaust survivor, to how a dog thinks, relationships with parents (especially if you've never had children of your own), to more.  It's a fun show!

    E.E.R.S: Post-Election Thoughts - What Happens Now?

    in Politics

So the election is over - what does that mean?  Four more years...of what?

Tonight on The Ernest Experience Radio Show, Ernest delves into what he did on election night.  Does an Anarchist watch the results, and if so - what are his thoughts?

Also - what happens when one person makes politics too personal, & friendships end over simple difference of political opinion?  Should opinions on politics factor that much into relationships?  Where is the "melting pot" mentality at that point?

All this plus the Listening Lounge with double shots from YahZarah, Sy Smith, Leela James, plus new music from Said The Whale, & Matthew Mayfield, your national 3-day forecast, NPR news at the top of both hours, & much more.  It's a sizzler tonight!
