Xiro Xone F1 Sports: Nico Rosberg Wins Monaco Grand Prix Amidst Controversy

    in News

Coming off of a controversial lock-up on the track during qualifying, that slowed down teammate Lewis Hamilton’s faster flying lap, Nico Rosberg won the Formula One Grand Prix in Monaco today.  Rosberg won on the same track that lead his father Keke Rosberg to victory, years earlier.

Thanks to the skillful driving of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, the Mercedes AMG team is 161 points ahead of their closest rival Red Bull. German driver Nico Rosberg has become a netter driver since Lewis Hamilton started sharing his data with him, something his former team-mate and 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher did not, do.  They may be friendly competitors on the track but they are the epitome of a good team. Rosberg and Hamilton’s efforts to score points for the team have been very successful all season because points, translate into revenue.

A welcomed surprise was Marussia driver Jules Bianchi who got the first ever points for the team this season, placing them 9th in the Constructors. They gained entry into Formula One in 2009 and have been a hard working team struggling to gain Constructor points.

Stay tuned to Xiro Xone F1 Sports. Next race is Canada.

Xiro Xone News F1 Sports: Russian Grand Prix Qualifying

    in News

Pole sitter Lewis Hamilton was a commanding presence, on the track today in Sochi during qualifying, at the Formula One Russian Grand Prix.  He was two-tenths ahead of his teammate, Nico Rosberg who secured second.

The 53-lap street circuit with challenging twists and turns, on a purposefully built track, is in the heart of the beautiful Black Sea Resort in Sochi. The long straight before turn one is where Hamilton will likely battle with Rosberg to hold onto, first position. The other drivers also view the location as a great place to improve, their position during the race.

Williams-Martini driver, Valtteri Bottas was third. Bottas set the fastest first and second sectors on his final run, but started to struggled towards the end of the lap and lost the rear of the car in the last corner.  As a result Bottas had to settle for third on the grid, with Jenson Button taking his best dry qualifying of the year in fourth.

Russian driver Daniil Kvyat for Toro Rosso, was excited to race at his home circuit. He made an impressive showing by securing 5th position, the best qualifying result of his career.

Disappointed, was Daniel Ricciardo in 7th who had a bit of a problem with the grip, of the new track stating, “It was hard to read the grip.”  His Red Bull teammate Sebastian Vettel in eleventh position was not satisfied with the rear of the car while taking corners. He said, “The car felt nervous”.

Force India continues to work hard for points. Team Principal Vijay Mallya said “the penalty against Nico Hulkenberg was unfortunate and strategy options will be limited on a track where overtaking appears difficult.”  At the end of the day, the teams learned quite a bit from qualifying on the new track.

Xiro Xone F1 Sports: Lewis Hamilton Told To Abort Last Run Cost Him Pole

    in News

Qualifying day at the Formula One British Grand Prix was filled with shifting and shuffling, and some say, sabotage. British champion Lewis Hamilton with the Mercedes AMG team was the clear favorite, and fastest on the track. He was on a final run with teammate Rosberg behind him, when he was instructed to abort. Formula One insiders are blaming his team strategist for the bad decision, but as usual, Hamilton is blaming himself. It seems this great young champion cannot catch a break. If he would have disobeyed team orders and continued the run, he would have been criticized for not being a team player. The call cost Hamilton his pole position and a drop to 6th place on the grid.  Fans love this driver, and are hope he will rack up more wins, as the season continues.

Some great shifting on the track put players in for the first time, while shuffling, knocked others out. Great shifting lead to Jules Bianchi with the Marrusia team clinching the 12th spot on the grid, while Williams-Martini drivers Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa landed in the 14th and 15th position, respectively

Some serious shuffling on the track have relegated some champions to the back of the grid. Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen are still trying to find their cars, the track, or themselves on the podium. They will have a hard time finding either of those things from the 16th and 18th spot on the grid. This has been a tough year for both of these great drivers.

The starting grid line-up will be Rosberg, Vettel, and Jenson Button.  Button is the only other British driver in F1 at the moment, and also a fan favorite. This weekend is special and sentimental for Button, so he asked if everyone will tweet, #PinkForPapa in honor of his late father and the charity they support.
