John Carver Show - Ray Lewis and All I Know is Grind

    in Self Help

In this show I found a recording of NFL great Ray Lewis talking to some young basketball students about having the GRIND every single day.  Here are some other words of wisdom from Ray Lewis:

“Every day of my life, I’m trying to find a different way to get better.”

“Nobody’s as serious about health and fitness as me, and staying fit is my top priority.”

“What makes you grind?  You have to always be chasing something.”

“In any war, you put your back to mine, I put my back to yours, and let’s do what we gotta do.”

“You’ve got to go out and show them that I’m a different creature now, then I was five minutes ago, cause I’m pissed off for greatness. Cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness, that just means you’re okay with being mediocre.”

“My pain is my badge of honor.”

“The greatest opportunity in the world is found here today… We already know what yesterday has got for us. It’s already gone. Tomorrow, too far away. What about right now!”

“I prepare so no one can take what is mine, no one can replace my mind, my heart.”

“You take five fingers. Individually, I can pin any one of them, but if I pin them together (makes a fist), it’s damn near impossible to turn this around.”

“You have to get back to being kids again.  You can’t never get tired.  I have something burning inside me.  I am a kid all over again.”

“The day you think you can beat me, show me.  Then move on to the next challenge.”

    “All I know is grind.”

“In any war who pulls their general out? No one.”

    Leslie Lewis: Actress, Writer, Producer

    in Movies

Rising star Leslie Lewis drops by to talk about her key role in With Child, an indie gem of a film nominated for Best World Showcase at the 2015 SoHo International Film Festival. She will also discuss her other acting experience and projects. Her film credits include: Dead Broke, Starving Hysterical Naked, Almost in Love, The Better Man, Chaos Theory, Area Q, and Locked in a Garage Band. However, Leslie is probably best known for creating and starring in Miracle in Rwanda, a one-woman live show based on the life of Immaculée Ilibagiza, who survived the Rwandan genocide in 1994. Over 10,000 theatergoers in six continents have seen the show. This talented actress also played Dorothy Dandridge in another one-woman show titled Yesterday Came Too Soon at the National Black Theatre in Harlem.

Leslie’s role in With Child is her first appearance as a lead in a feature film. This unique movie tells the touching story of a widowed construction worker trying to rebuild his life as a single dad while struggling with the romantic advances of his eccentric new employer (played by Leslie). "When I read the script, I thought it would be a good fit for my first film as lead producer," Leslie explains. "I love the message of the film: What we choose now affects our past.”

In 2024, the world is on the brink of nuclear war and environmental disaster. Nora Del Bosque tells her husband, Aden Delaterre, she must go to Chicago, to the new headquarters of the Un, to report on a crucial meeting. With the world situation looking grim, Aden fears for Nora's safety. As an environmental specialist, he understands the danger all too well. His fears are confirmed when global disaster strikes during Nora's trip, and the two are lost to each other. In the ensuing years, they each lead lives in isolated communities without modern technology or the conveniences once taken for granted. Both become leaders within these fragments of civilization, facing a wide range of conflicts. In the process, Nora and Aden discover their own intuitive awakening and come to know and rely on their personal spirit guides-in hopes of one day finding each other.
