Even though as a creator and lover of the pure art form we call music, technology is something that cannot be ignored. With much technicalities and detail it takes to adjust to the technology of the ages, the soul of music can be lost. However the greats will always find a way to balance these two. As an industry we've done an ok job of doing so but the ever evolving industry we are in calls for innovation and conversation to ensure we move forward just as fast and keep the heart of what we do pure.
I hate to even put a spotlight on this new phenomenon called "wubbing," but I can't resist talking about it. Wubbing is one of the newest and peculiar dances on the scene these days. You have to look at a photo or video to understand it, but I'll do my best to describe it:
It's a prop that fits in the crotch area of your pants and hangs down like an extremely large penis. It appears to be made of foam rubber, so it looks like a decorative pillow that droops down. The dancers do suggestive moves with it in the form of a dance routine. Those moves may include "sword fighting" with other "wubbers" (I have no idea if that's what they're called), it can include someone getting on their knees in front of it and getting "sprayed" with the dangling object, and many other lewd acts (according to what a dancer in the video I saw quoted from his local police department).
There have been talk ever since black men starting sagging their jeans of a conspiracy theory. The theory basically states that between prison life (rape), sagging pants, rappers getting nails/hair done, etc., that White America wants to feminize the black male youth.
I have no idea if that's actually true or not. However, I do know this: more black male youths partake in traditionally feminine acts than I've seen in my 42 years on this planet that's for sure.
We'll discuss that and more on the Talk 2 Q Radio Show!
"No experts. Just opinions."
Show No. 363
Scheduled for 60-75 mins.
Sometimes we get besides ourselves and let our mouths write checks our asses can't cash. What happens when that person that said they were going to come to your house actually shows up? Do you duke it out and end up on Worldstar or do you turn the other cheek and risk being called out for being scared? We are going to explore some of these issues and more on Planet Oshay Blog Talk Radio.
