    in Current Events

    2. Israeli police and a civilian shot and killed three Palestinians on Saturday who were attacking them with kitchen knives, as a wave of Palestinian assaults continued, answered by deadly Israeli fire.

    3. A measles outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s copper-mining southeast has killed 428 people and infected about 30,000 since the start of the year.

    4. Two weeks of air and missile strikes in Syria have given Western intelligence and military officials deeper insight into the transformation that Russia’s military has undergone under President Vladimir Putin, showcasing its ability to conduct operations beyond its borders and providing a public demonstration of new weaponry, tactics and strategy.

    5. Crippling blizzards, snowstorms, and sub-zero temperatures threaten a yearly dose of Arctic misery for the next 50 years at least – and possibly decades more.

The prophetic passage of Scripture that we are looking at today is Psalm 89 which reads in part: "I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations. For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens..."

Our second coming quote for today is from Martin Luther. He said, "I hope that the day is near at hand when the advent of the great God will appear, for all things everywhere are boiling, burning, moving, falling, sinking, groaning."

    4. Iran's president said on Tuesday that his country is ready to hold talks with the United States and Saudi Arabia on ways to resolve Syria's civil war, providing such negotiations can secure peace and democracy in conflict-torn Syria.

    5. After a two-year siege, al-Qaida’s affiliate in Syria and other insurgents on Wednesday captured the one remaining Syrian army air base in Idlib province, a development that activists said effectively expelled the last of President Bashar Assad’s military from the northwestern province.

The prophetic passage of Scripture that we are looking at today is Job 23:10-11 which reads: "But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined."

Our second coming quote for today is from Augustine: He said, "He who loves the coming of the Lord is not he who affirms it is far off, nor is it he who says it is near. It is he who, whether it be far or near, awaits it with sincere faith, stead-fast hope and fervent love."

Alfred Blue does not belong in the NFL.

Amazingly, Ben Watson is out-producing Jimmy Graham.

Ronnie Hillman is the back to own in Denver.

Taylor Gabriel is more enticing than Duke Johnson with Johnny Manziel at the controls.

Jordan Matthews has been an unexpected bust, so it's time to give Nelson Agholor a shot.

Peyton Manning may or may not be on HGH.

C.D. - ISIS, Syria and How far Am I My Brother's Keeper?

    in Islam

As-Salaam-Alaikum (God's Peace be upon You)!

This Saturday, November 21, 2015, Critical Discourse will cover the ever-unfolding events that have captured the attention, fear and yet, determination of the public, to maintain a sense of normalcy and charity.

In wake of the attacks in Paris, the U.S. Congress voted to greatly restrict and regulate the influx of Syrian refugees. To the shock of many, enough democrats voted with republicans, to deny Barack Obama the veto power he'd promised to weld.

With emotions still raw, the very fibesr of human compassion and drive for self-preservation are being tested.

Are the governors, who vowed to pointedly refuse any additional entries of Syrian refugees into their states, guilty of hard-heartedness?

Why should an entire group be judged so harshly, based on the depraved acts of a few?

Are those governors who have promised to allow the refugees, careless and naively optimistic that there are no plausible threats?

What of the future relationship between American Muslims and the general public? Will Muslims be looked upon with greater suspicion?

Given the range of reaction and comments from presidential candidates, how will these recent events (including Mali), affect the outcome of the 2016 presidential election?

Join us, to review these issues and more, right on your favorite talk-show (am I being a bit pretentious?) - Critical Discourse!
