I amd Keith Andrew the creator of Uncensored and KeithAndrewNetWork. I wanted to do something that would get people talking and came up with my idea of creating my own Talk Show in title Uncensored. For the longest time I had been using my learning disable to hurt myself and let it hold me back however this past year I wanted to try something a little different and I created this talk show platform and knock on wood everything is going really well. The whole point is to show people that even with having a learning disable I can still amount to something and at the same time turn myself into an example for people who are deaf, blind, or in a wheel chair. I want to to see how they should never give up, label themselves and prove people wrong. I want them to always reach for there dreams no matter what!!!

Oh, yes, I HEAR you! "What? Where has she BEEN?!" Hah! We all missed her, didn't we? We'll get those Where's Waldo answers tomorrow - when Joyce Cooling visits us at three p.m. Eastern time! Remember that - for Tuesday, 11/18 - the show STARTS at TWO. We'll have three two-hour shows this week!
Back to our sublime guest: Joyce has been making beautiful music with her guitar for QUITE a while now. Self-taught, her influences and inspirations range from Brazilian to Classical to Rock - and it all pours forth into a pulsating, dynamic and driving deliciousness that is profoundly JAZZ!
#1 radio singles, six Top Ten, multiple music awards - and nominated for several others. "Global Cooling" was her seventh studio album and that was released in 2009.
Well, it HAS been quite an absence on the scene...and the reason for this visit from Joyce (a reunion!) is specific: she has a new HOLIDAY single! Produced by longtime producer, Jay Wagner, "The Holiday's On" is meant to convey a 1940's Swing era vibe with a spin that's infectious :) We'll hear it - and more tracks that are meaningful - and we'll talk to Joyce about a favorite subject: mental health. This fascinating artist has worked with some of the best in the business (Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, Al Jarreau!) and has made friends all over the world. But the urgency of her life's path has much to do with the focus on keeping us emotionally afloat. That's why Joyce is a national advocate for NAMI: the National Alliance for Mental Health. As we near Thanksgiving and get into gear for the season, nothing is more important that focusing attention on how we're coping. How we can help ourselves and help others live better lives. Please join us for a SPECIAL "Hybrid Jazz!" 11/18/2014.

Born in Barcelona, our guest on 11/19/2014 has made QUITE a splash in his adopted country. Besides the fact that he just voted for the first time - as an American citizen :) Oscar Penas (I can't wait to say his last name: PEA Nyas!) is a gifted guitarist, composer and bandleader with a new CD that is, indeed, bragworthy. "Music of Departures and Returns" is full of inspirations that captivate Oscar - who has discussed the reasons why he was so drawn to Jazz after his childhood studies in Classical Music. He relished the idea of creating melodies and interacting with other musicians. Pat Metheny and Wayne Shorter were sparks that goaded him early on. Then, the music of Pixinguinha - the flamenco music of Spain that was so infused inside of him - all the ingredients that would define the intoxicating stew of Oscar's music - were taking shape. This is a gentleman who has won the "ASCAP Plus Award" - so SOMETHING's working :)
Oscar is visiting us for two reasons. One, he's performing at the prestigious Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland, in the next few days. We certainly wanted to call attention to that. Secondly, this new album, Oscar's fourth, is full of music that enriches the soul. Esperanza Spalding and Paquito D'Rivera are featured - as is producer, arranger and pianist, Gil Goldstein. He also focuses on quartet: six-string electric bassist Moto Fukushima, drummer Richie Barshay, and the world-class violinist, Sara Caswell.
Besides being an alluring guitarist - both intelligent and earthy - Oscar is a wise man. He knew that, after his education at Berklee and the New England Conservatory, he would have to stand out in the sea of sublime artistry that populates New York City. So, he dug deeply, honoring his roots and his passion for Jazz. The results will make your ears thank you :)
Yes, you are correct - you have seldom seen the word "Favorite" in the title of the show :) The most versatile Renaissance Man that we're featuring is the reason. Besides being so staggeringly talented, Slim is also a friend. And it's ALWAYS a pleasure to welcome him back!
Baltimore born and bred, Slim (aka Tim Camponeschi) became smitten with music at the age of five. That's when Dad took him to see "The Five Pennies" with Danny Kaye and Louis Armstrong. So strong was the inspiration that Slim took trumpet lessons for ten years. And he taught himself both guitar and piano. Singing all the while. Oh, thank God for THAT! If you know our Hunk's voice, then you have heard Audible Silk. Dean Martin without the dry martini :-D
Seriously, this profile could wax poetic from now until showtime - that's how cool of a background we're discussing. From the first gig, singing Beatles' songs at the six grade graduation - to his middle school band, Momma Max - to his education at the Peabody Institute - to the Motown office of Roxanne Gordy in New York City where he signed his published deal (and a song on Angie Bofill's debut CD!). There's more: Stiff Records (yes) signed him and "Boot Camp" had two of the 100 videos first seen on MTV. A re-recording of songs originally done by another artist put Slim Man on the map - so did Bona Fide, the group he founded in the late 90's. "X-Ray Hip" was a number one song that still get played all over the globe. And Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn will never forget Our Guy - Slim was the one who discovered him via the nationwide Marlboro search.
TV, screenplays, authentic Italian cooking - whaddya want?! A new Kickstarter will launch his cookbook (days left!) and a BIG charitable event happens SOON - please welcome our Friend, Slim Man!
First Guest: Jonathan Cahn discusses his New York Times Best Seller book, The Harbinger: the Ancient Mystery that holds the secret of America's Future. Johnathan is known for bringing out the deep mysteries and rich revelations of God’s word. He leads Hope of the World, an outreach dedicated to spreading the word of God and the love of God to all who need, through television, radio, shortwave, and more, and through projects of compassion to the world’s poorest.
Second Guest: Trish Cooper, CEO and Founder of ZatsWho.com shares her story and success tips of becoming a successful entrepreneur.
Ooooh, this is gonna be a "Red Cups UP" interview! Hah! That's one of the tunes on Joey Sommerville's new CD, "Overnight Sensation" (oh, the irony THERE!). The song was lauded by "USA Today" columnist, Elysa Gardner. She just mentioned it the other day when she discussed new music that caught her ear. Bette Midler and Darlene Love and Joey - he was in the right company, wasn't he? Thanks, Elysa!
This will be the third go-round with Joey as guest. The first time was back in "Cool Jazz Conversations" days with Joy Hall. Then, he visited "Hybrid Jazz" with more exciting news two years ago. NOW? Honey, this a whole 'nother chapter in the Saga of Sommerville! The new project is SMOKING hot! In terms of artistry and variety. Joey has enlisted his friends to play with him: Earl Klugh, Elan Trotman, Eric Essix and Jeff Bradshaw. And he has stretched his wings and flown to beautiful new directions. He echoes the past so well while breathing life into it. Joey is adamant that you know he plays ALL kinds of music on that trumpet, but he truly has an affinity for the life of what Jazz is. Matter-of-fact, Joey is an "All That Jazz" award-winner. Let him tell you about that :)
Raised in the Baptist Church, Joey knew that if the congregation responded favorably to his trumpet, then his "soul communication" was on target :) Liiving in Atlanta now (from Detroit), Joey has played with everyone from Phish to Cirque de Soleil to the many stars who landed in 'Lanta for his Jazz After Dark Series. He's no stranger to touring or recording - he has honed his craft for YEARS - and to say that you're going to enjoy every note of what you'll hear on the new CD is an understatement!
