    COLLEGE AND MILITARY.


    Boston College. Graduated with a major in marketing and minor in finance. Ran 4.07 for the mile. Inducted into the BC Athletic Hall of Fame (1984).


    Lieutenant, United States Marine Corps. Intelligence and artillery officer, and served in combat in Vietnam as artillery forward observer. All-Marine track & field champion. Competed internationally representing the USA.


     


    TRACK & FIELD AND MARATHON RADIO AND TV BROADCASTING CAREER


    1980 to present. Commentator for ESPN-TV for track & field and marathons since the inception of the network. Also have worked for most of the other major TV networks. Commentator for 4 World Championships and 7 summer Olympic Games in track & field. Commentator for 38 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships for ESPN and CBS. International and national co-host for television for Chicago, New York and Boston marathons (up to 35 yrs).


     


    AWARDS


    Two-time national and 2-time regional Emmy award winner for track and field and sports journalism commentary, for ESPN and Madison Square Garden network.

    Bill welcomes author, teacher, and painter Abigail Thomas to the show. Abigail Thomas was for a time a book editor and for another time a book agent before writing for publication. Her first three books “Getting Over Tom,” “An Actual Life,” and “Herb’s Pajamas” were works of fiction. Her memoir, “A Three Dog Life,” was named one of the best books of 2006 by the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post. It won the 2006 Inspirational Memoir Award given by Books for A Better Life. She is also author of “Safekeeping,” a memoir, and “Thinking About Memoir," and, most recently, the memoir "What Comes Next and How to Like it."

    The “Voice of the Predators” Pete Weber (Twitter: @petewebersports) begins his 18th season as part of the Nashville Predators broadcast crew and his first working as the team’s primary radio play-by-play announcer in 2015-16. In the last 17 seasons, Weber has missed just two games and has called nearly 1,200 regular season and playoff games for the club.

    His insights are called upon by local sportstalk radio and television, and his writing is regularly featured on the team’s website. In January 2015, Weber won his third Tennessee Sportscaster of the Year award, as voted by the National Association of Sportscasters and Sportswriters. 

    Pete has served the last seven seasons as an “insider” on Sirius/XM’s NHL Network Radio, and has served as co-host of Slapshot Radio since the fall of 2009. 

    Weber’s hockey experience includes three seasons (1978-81) as analyst on the Los Angeles Kings radio and telecasts, two seasons (1995-97) of radio play-by-play for the Buffalo Sabres and coverage of the U.S. hockey team at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, along with duties as host for Buffalo’s cable and radio coverage. At the college level, he called games for his alma mater (University of Notre Dame) from 1974 to 1976, and the University at Buffalo from 1976 through 1978.
