Weird News, Pop Culture, & The Middle East

    in Politics

Hr1 Andrea Nelson joins Joe to cover current events, including those weird news you wont find anywhere.

The Oscars as a political platform? Maybe they should do a little homework before spouting Liberal talking points.

How does Neil Patrick Harris in his underwear illuminate the Oscars?

Judge says a Detroit man must pay $30K in child support for kid who is not his

Hr2 Why doesn't the FFRF or the AHA sue the President when he says God Bless America? They only pick on schools.

Major General Paul E. Vallely, US Army (ret) check in with an update on the violence in the Middle East. Where exactly is that coalition of 60 allies that we're supposed to have?

Dems think that he should be able to ignore federal court rulings and laws. Wouldn't that make us a ruling monarchy?

Hr3  Atty General Holder says the best way to secure the border is by protecting illegal immigrants. Huh?

Sally Kohn from CNN wants her child to be gay (like her). It's ok for her to want to push that on her daughter, but it's not ok for Christian to push their child to be straight. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Which party supported: abolition, women's voting rights? Republicans. Which party supported Obamacare?

Why won't people admit that they don't know about something? They just make stuff up!

Pro-abortion Sen. David Haley complained about the use of the term “dismemberment” when discussing Kansas law “Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act.

Military Intervention in the Middle East!

    in Military

Do we need military intervention in the Middle East? Are we handling things properly? Major General Paul E. Vallely with Stand Up America joins Joe to discuss the current state of affairs. Tune in!

Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?

There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.

Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.

But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!

If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!

It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) has a mortality rate of approximately 30%. This means that around 30% of those people contracting the disease, will perish. This is a virus that has been spreading throughout the Middle East, and a single case has been found in the USA so far. While the virus has supposedly been contained from that one case, it is likely inevitable that we will see more cases in the near future here in the United States in the near future. Tonight, Sam Coffman considers the possibility of MERS in the USA and how he would deal with this kind of a viral infection using herbal medicine. Plant medicine is in many ways more effective than pharmaceutical medicine for viral infections. Often, the only “treatment” for a viral infection in an orthodox medical environment is palliative care – keeping the patient comfortable and hydrated – in a hospital, which is a disease incubator for people with compromised immune systems, as they have when sick with a virus.

Sam will discuss respiratory and antiviral herbs, as well as a general approach in a post-disaster situation toward illness in a community.

GENDER VIOLENCE: IS IT REALLY THAT DIFFERENT IN THE MIDDLE EAST?

    in Current Events

GENDER VIOLENCE: IS IT REALLY THAT DIFFERENT IN THE MIDDLE EAST?

The news gives us shocking reports of violence against women in the Middle East – stoning, brutality, punishment for being sexually assaulted—it has to be worse than the US, right?  It turns out there are vast differences in gender violence, but there also are a surprising number of similarities.

Leyla Welkin, Ph.D. is a clinical cross cultural psychologist born in Turkey and educated in the US.  After 25 years working in the Pacific Northwest, she founded the Pomegranate Connection Program in Ankara, Turkey in 2008.  She has partnered with organizations in the US, the UK, and Turkey to address gender based violence.  Welkin has worked with civil and social organizations, government agencies, businesses, universities, and the United Nations Population Fund to develop programs to prevent and intervene in sexual and family violence among Syrian refugees living in Turkey.

Her work has given her a unique perspective on talking about the perpetrators, survivors, social views and struggles faced by women in the Middle East and how they compare with those in the United States.

Join us Saturday at 11 am Pacific Time to as we discuss domestic violence and gender abuse in the Middle East and how it compares with that in the US.

    Call-in with your comments to (646) 378-0430.
