LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0042 Texas & Latino Values

    in Politics

LatinoTalk Texas is America's only daily independent political analysis from the Latino perspective.  On today's show I discussed a number of timely issues important Latinos and Latinos in Texas. First, I read an article from Latina.com that pointed out Latino celebrities that are not afraid to comment on political issues especially those important to other Latinos like Immigration Reform which this show favors greatly. Next, I discuss the insulting prospect that a conservative "news" outlet joked the murderess of Selena Quintanilla Perez would be released from prison. This is not true but remains personally insulting. I read an article from "Latinos Ready to Vote" outlining the religiosity of Mexicanos and Mexican Americans in America. No surprise the vast majority, like this show, are Catholic. Later, I mention that Texas Values is working on a number of morality issues in Texas and among them is the effort to defend Christmas and other religious expression which this show also supports. Another issue in the sights of Texas Values is the City of Plano, Texas that has passed a controversial "equal rights" ordinance. Opponents say it violates the First Amendment Freedom of Religion. I enter into a reminding discussion of my perception of the two major political forces in America. They are the Culture of Life and the Culture of Anti-Life or the Culture of Death. Because this show and the vast majority of Latinos are Catholic, we are among the Culture of Life and work to expose the Culture of Death and its means of undermining the Culture of Life. Lastly, I read two articles about Immigration Reform. One article from CNN and by an economist reports on the financial benefits of Immigration Reform which confirms what we have said for years. Lastly, another article articulates the political pitfalls the Republicans have now they have failed to act on Immigration Reform.

    Christmas Eve in Kent Texas

    in History

My buddy Bob Mc Glew suggested a story line that was visit a ghost town and to do a short story about what you find there. So has we were traveling to Austin Texas on December 24  we stopped in Kent Texas just to see what was there and do a share some reflections . There is not much there but I did learn some valuable lessons. (1) the batteries in my digital camera fell out and promptly disappeared, (2) we were not sure what we would find but do the research first This show is dedicated to Robert Mc Glew my S3 productions foreign reporter for giving me the idea

COMMENTS: Kent. A ranch town born to supply the needs of the long x Cattle Company. The most famous of the west Texas ranches. Owned by the Reynolds brothers, prominent west Texas ranchers. Their holding consisted of several thousand acres extending from north of us highway 10 to several miles south into the Davis mountains. REMAINS: Lots of ruins but a lot still standing. http://www.ghosttowns.com/states/tx/kent.html

The town, once called Antelope, was founded in the early 1890s.

A post office was granted in 1893 and by 1914 the population was a thriving 25 persons. The population doubled in the mid-1920s and remained at that level for 40 years. The post office was reported closed in 1960 but has since reopened.

Kent had a population of sixty-five in the late 1960s - falling to 60 by the mid-1970s where it remains today.

Today little is left to interest a tourist - but the juncture of the two roads provides a sense of place. The lone telephone at least looks comforting but its condition is unknown. The overpass of I-10 offers some relief from the scorching sun but it will be sometime before Kent becomes a destination.

LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0043 Catholic traditions & 287g Immigration Enforcement

    in Politics

LatinoTalk Texas is news, issues and interviews important to Latinos in America.  On today's show, December 12th, I discuss the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe which is very important to Latinos in America, especially Mexicanos and ethnic Mexicans like myself. I read an article about riders in Illinois who rode to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Des Plaines and delivered a rose while passing on horseback. I went on to read more news from the Catholic News Service concerning the Synod of the Family and Conscious Rights of Catholics under assault in liberal America both by the Obama administration and the liberal City of Washington DC which enacted similar ordinances as Plano, and Houston, Texas which challenge religious freedom and expression. Later in the show, a caller, Juan Martinez, a former police officer in the Dallas Ft. Worth area called to ask about 287g, a federal program that enables local law enforcement to question person incarcerated to determine if they should be evaluated by immigration enforcement. Martinez wanted to know if that program is still in effect. I reported that as I know it is but in reference to SB 1070 which was largely found to be unconstitutional but also still authorized in vague terms state and local law enforcement to be "assist" immigration and customs authorities. Previously, this was not true as the Supremacy Clause prevented state and local LEO from investigating such matters without 287g authorization. However, since the SB1070 case, states have new authorization and in places like Arizona, they uses it indiscriminately and over zealously. I am very worried about the laws Dan Patrick will pass here in Texas and use it to violate the rights of Latinos here in Texas simply because we may look "foreign." Clearly a violation of the 4th Amendment.

    Fear!

    Friend or Foe?

This this episode we will discuss FEAR!!!

Fear can be one of the most crippling subjects on the planet. If the topic is right you don’t even need to be in the same city or state or even country for you to hear a story and immediately be consumed by fear.

I will also be covering how to use fear to recognize your something new is coming and how to prepare to used it to create empires!

The Core4 topic of the day is Being! Here we will be covering the second Mantra of the warrior Assent mediation practice and I may even talk more on Bryan Katie’s the work.

LatinoTalk Texas 2014, 0041 Guest Charlie Garza & Judeo-Christian Principles

    in Politics

LatinoTalk Texas is news, issues and interviews important to American Latinos.  This is America's only daily indepedent political analysis from the Latino perspective.  Today, Charlie Garza, was my guest. Charlie was a member of the State Board of Education in Texas and at the time of his election a few years ago he was the only Latino Republican elected to statewide office in Texas. I actually helped with his campaign those few years ago and I'm proud of my involvement with his campaign. Charlie called to mention how the left is working hard at every turn and especially concerning the selection of textbooks in Texas to eliminate any reference to our common judeo-christian principles in the founding of our nation and the basis of our common laws in America. I explained why the culture of death, represented by the Democrats in America seek to use euphemisms to cover the truth about their actions. I went on to give the example and read a news article about Planned Parenthood's claiming they offer pre-cancer screenings when the evidence is clear that PP does NOT offer any such screenings. The news indicates the Pro-Life effort to remove all public funds in Texas from Planned Parenthood. I agree that is the best policy and those funds should go to agencies that actually do provide women's healthcare. Then Charlie and I discuss the anti-immigration effort and I inform him of the true importance of immigration reform, that America needs MORE immigration and not less but that the very same forces of the culture of death are also the same types of people who bring the anti-immigration efforts and that they are motivated by an anti-Latino fervor. Finally I read two news articles about a federal lawsuit brought by Texas AG Greg Abbott over Obama's executive action on Immigration reform and mention that Arturo Carmona, a guest on this show, was quoted in the article.

The Attack on Christ,Morality, and Common Sense

    in Politics Conservative

Call today's show a remade or a newly wrapped up and presented version of what Saturday's show was intended to be, with maybe a couple of side stories or side items from news found yesterday and today.  Saturday's show was going to be me presenting various news stories about Eric Holder reinterpreting the Civil Rights Act, a couple of Christmas themed/war on Christmas themed stories, and the latest update on a dispute between Mikey Weinstein and one of his latest battles when, in his view, Christianity raises its head inappropriately in our military.  I dare say Mikey Weinstein is incorrect, and I think one of our most famous generals would agree with me as well.  As always, I'll cover what I can, again 2 new stories as well hopefully, today at 4:30 Eastern time, and archived after that.
