SRO Conversations: Talking Trash with Tom Szaky

    in Entrepreneur

On the 26th episode of SRO Conversations, we talk trash - both literally and figuratively with 30-year old entrepreneur, Tom Szaky, the Founder and CEO of TerraCycle, Inc. The company, which started off making compost from worm poop (now only 5% of the company's sales) has not branched out into other forms of trash, recycling 150 different types of waste across 23 countries. "It breaks down to around 40 million people collecting about 1 million pieces of trash every hour that would normally go to landfill," Szaky says.On this week's episode, we discuss the concept of waste, the lack of competition in waste management, the future of trash, degrowth, population and fundamental issues with "sustainability."For more conversations, visit: www.summerrayne.net/podcast/To follow the conversation, look for us @sroakes and you can follow Tom @Terracycle.

From Worm Poop to Brain Training

    in Entertainment

We are featuring two guests this week!

First up: It all started in 2001 when Tom Szaky set out to change the way people do business. Inspired by a box of worms, he had a dream: a company could be financially successful while being ecologically and socially responsible.

[the] story is a reminder about following your dreams. The pot of gold may require dealing with a ton of crap." -- CBS Evening News

On the second half of the show, Jane Percy is going to teach us about Brain State Conditioning.

The brain acts like the hub of the wheel, your nervous system the spokes and your body the rim. When the hub is out of balance everything else suffers.

Brain State Conditioning is an individually tailored process of balancing and harmonizing brain waves. Brain function is manifested in electromagnetic energy which can be captured by detecting it, or listening to it without being invasive. Brain energy can be detected from the outer scalp at specific points on the head using Intellectrodes.

Ultimately, this process produces personalized exercises to balance and optimize your brain. The Brain State Conditioning process collects brain waves via computers which interpret brain wave information and translate it into optimized patterns in the form of sound which is played through stereo headphones.
