    Suze Orman

    in Finance

It was at Borders Books on Chicago’s State Street where women and men were lined up literally around the corner to get a glimpse at the Money-Making Maven, Suze Orman. Signing autographs, smiling at strangers and shaking every hand that reached out to her made a successful book signing on The Road to Wealth.
This book hit the New York Times Bestseller’s list within its first weeks release, making Suze Orman a bona fide financial superstar! Suze shared with me, “Out of all the books I’ve written, I’m lovin’ this baby more than any of them! 9 Steps to Financial Freedom hit number one on the New York Time Bestsellers list which was an absolute phenomenon in itself but everybody said, ‘that’s not so hard – anybody can do that if you’re on Oprah 11 times.’ Courage to Be Rich comes out and goes right to number one on the New York Times Bestsellers list and everybody says, ‘oh, that’s not that hard – you had an entire PBS special behind you. Road to Wealth comes out and one week after it comes out without any publicity whatsoever except for 4 minutes on the Today Show which is not enough to make a New York Times Bestseller; it hit the New York Times Bestsellers list within one week! What that says to me is that people are buying me now not being sold to me.”

SwCA Episode 156: Suze Orman Is Right! You Can’t Afford It and Neither Can I!

    in Business

    SITE: http://www.courtneyanderson.com/swca-episode-156-financial-fierceness-series-suze-orman-is-right-you-canrsquot-afford-it-and-neither-can-i.html

SHOW NOTES: Our FINANCIAL FIERCENESS!™ series integrates our financial goals into our development plan for surpassing our goals. We deal with the specific issues we need to explore in order to achieve (and surpass) our financial goals. This episode is, “Suze Orman Is Right! You Can’t Afford It and Neither Can I!

Money I have - Money I Owe = Money I Can Use (save, spend, etc.)

    Money I have = Money I have

Future money ≠ (does not equal) Money I have

Future money includes future paycheck, future appreciation, etc.

The default position we all should have is that we cannot afford it! We may not be able to afford the math part of the equation (not have sufficient income, savings, etc) or we may not be able to afford the emotional aspect of the equation (decreased happiness due to lack of anticipation). No matter how many financial resources we have, the anticipation of a treat (by denying, delaying and/ or limiting a purchase) will make us happier.

I deny myself items that I want all of the time!

    Consider:

    1) We can’t afford it.

    2) Plan ahead (save and/or research more) to create and enhance anticipation.

    3) Purchase only when the math supports it (in regards to debt, savings, etc.).

    4) Maintain the purchase.

    5) Repair the purchase.

    6) Last option is to replace the purchase.

Remember to use your “Money Days” to go through your bills and cut costs. A penny saved is a penny earned.

I saved over $120 per month on my mobile phone bill with show sponsor Ting (https://zjjbst19hp4.ting.com/)! I strongly recommend that you check and see if you will be able to realize savings on your mobile phone!

Suze Orman: Follow Her Example – Not Her Advice!

    in Finance

    Actions Speak Louder Than Words!

It seems that the best advice can be learned not from listening to financial corporations and so-ca experts, but by watching what they DO.

Banks put billions of dollars into “BOLI” – bank-owned permanent life insurance  - while advising their customers to put their money into savings accounts and CD’s earning next to nothing. In a recent video from the Palm Beach Letter, a finance insider confessed that many financial gurus and professionals havenone of their own dollars in the stock market.

In Suze Orman’s case, there is also a distinct gap between what she advises and the actions she takes – a gap is so wide that one blogger stated she must hate the financial advice she doles out through books and TV!

On today's show No BS Money Guy Todd Strobel and Special Guest Best Selling Financial Author Kim Butler discuss Real, Practical and Most Importantly Safe Strategies to optimize your finances.

    6 Ways to Save Money

    in Motivation

In today's episode Cliffunya & Kisha will look at  ways to Save Money at the Kitchen Table.

The sisters will discuss the different ways to save.

    Mastering your Money

    1. Establish a personal finance day(budget) - where you review expenses, verify receipts, reconcile bill payments and setting up automatic bill payments.

    2. Cut health care- by signing up for a HSA (high deductible health insurance)

    3. Focus on the cost of your time vs the cost of an item. example Michelle makes $15 an hour and wants to buy something  that cost $120. She would divide $120 by $15hr.  which =  8hrs. of work to purchase that item.

    4.Pay yourself first- automate

    5. 52wk Money Challenge

    6. Be a savy grocery shopper- coupons, eat before shopping, write a list, prepare meals for a week

Quote- "The way to build your savings is by spending less each month." Suze Orman
