The NY Hip Hop Report, the true voice of New York hip hop, returns from a Memorial Day weekend hiatus with a guest-packed show. We'll have SummerStage hip hop curator Erika Elliott as well as Wes Jackson from Brooklyn Bodega and The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, who are working with SummerStage.
Also, we'll talk to Baba Brinkman and DJ/Producer Jamie Simmonds, who are performing a trio of hip-hop-theater, Evolutionary Tales, at The Player's Theatre.
And we'll be talking about the controversy surrounding the (possibly) impending demolition of beloved graffiti haven 5 Pointz.
Of course, as always, we'll be discussing other NY hip hop events, artists, music and issues, and talking YOUR CALLS live!

Today, August 11, is the unoffical birthday of hip hop. To help celebrate the 40th anniversary of the birth of what has become a worldwide cultural phenomenon and a part of Americana, the New York City Parks Foundation has incorporated hip hop into their free summer concert series.
Saturday and Sunday were dedicated to DJ Kool Herc, the "Godfather of hip hop" whose Bronx parties are universally recognized as the social catalyst to the evolution of the music and culture.
We'll recap the two events, and ask, with pride:
What does 40 years of hip hop mean to you.
Call us up.
This week, on The NY Hip Hop Report with Manny Faces we'll speak with the makers of King Kong. Not the movie. Not the remake movie. The hip hop musical comedy version of the classic tale.
