Shauna Burns is a singer-songwriter who blends ethereal vocals and sweeping piano runs who has won over audiences across the United States with her Celtic style.
From her 2005 debut Every Thought and 2006 follow-up EP Desert Tune she has evolved and grown as a musician and a performer. The year 2013 has provided Burns to express her fresh ideas through storytelling. The new album, titled Violet, showcases her music that continues to flourish.
Shauna Burns' blend of ethereal vocals and sweeping piano and percussion driven atmospheres launched her early singles “Pink Girl” and “Petunia” to major success in the Triple AAA radio format. “Pink Girl” was also chosen as the #1 indie single from the MAACP Radio show. Every Thought, which Smother.net declared “a newfangled fusion that will ignite a spark that will be hard to replicate,” was also selected as one of the Top CDs of 2005 by Collected Sounds, a popular taste making website celebrating independent musicians. It was chosen for “Best of the Batch” from the Music Industry News Network and featured on TowerPod.com, Indie-Music.com, Billboard, VH1, Artist Direct, AOL Music and Fox TV, among other outlets. Burns’ music has long been inspired by many cultures and ideas that surround the world as well as the landscape of the deserts and mountains of the Western U.S. Drawing metaphorically upon her passion for anthropology, she sees every phase of her career as a new opportunity to dig into herself to uncover the next musical adventure. She stops by on Friday, April 12, at 7pm EST.

Shauna Aura Knight once again returns to the Pagan-Musings Podcast to talk with KaliSara and RevKess about things that matter to her, and to much of the Pagan community. Shauna is a ritual facilitator, teacher, author, artist, and presenter at various events in the Midwest and elsewhere. This year she has attended PantheaCon in California, ConVocation and Paganicon in the Midwest. She presented at all three of those events. She also took note of how they addressed, or seeminly ignored, certain issues.
In her recent article on Pagan Activist Shauna talks about racism and rape culture in relations to Pagan events. These have both been hot-button issues in the community for some time, especially since the arrest of Kenny Klein in March 2014 (tune in for an update). Editors Crystal Blanton, Brandy Williams and Taylor Ellwood have recently released their essay collection Called Bringing Race to the Table (tune in on 4/26/15 for a conversation with them), as well as presenting the topic at various events.
Tackling these and other issues in a constructive way is one of Shauna's specialities in life.
