    Extended Research Argument

    in Education

The ultimate goal for a student argument writer is a self-driven exploration of an issue that is important to them. This exploration is one where they inquire into a conversation, find their place in it, and contribute their voice.

As part of NWP's College-Ready Writers Program (CRWP) we have developed a set of resources that are focused on supporting teachers in teaching the Extended Research Argument. Join us for our conversation with three CRWP teacher-leaders as we discuss the Extended Research Argument and its role in empowering students to be positive, active, solution-oriented citizens.

Introducing the Action Research Network of the Americas

    in Education

We are excited to introduce NWP Radio listeners to ARNA, the Action Research Network of the Americas. We'll hear about the history and current work of ARNA, about their upcoming conference and their association with The Highlander Center, and about why NWP teachers and researchers might be interested in connecting with ARNA.

ARNA brings together practitioners from throughout North and South America and around the world to engage in dialogue and construct knowledge on professional practice (www.arnaconnect.org). Since its founding in 2012, ARNA has held annual conferences in California, Pennsylvania, and Ontario with the 2016 conference to be held in Knoxville, Tennessee and 2017 in Cartagena, Colombia.

The ARNA mission unites college and university students and faculty conducting practitioner inquiry into teaching and learning with fellow action researchers in public schools, private schools, community settings and workplaces throughout the Americas. ARNA members are committed to taking action locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally to promote action research that is conducted with a commitment to honesty, integrity, inclusiveness, multi-vocality, engagement, and achievement within sustainable democratic societies. ARNA encourages NWP members to join us in Knoxville to share the important literacy research they're conducting in schools across America with an international audience.
