  • Rachel Tilseth - Wolves of Douglas County Wisconsin

    in Education

Wolfdog Radio is proud to present Rachel Tilseth on our next show, with the theme "Without Wolves there would be no Wolfdogs" on Tuesday 4/26/2016 at 7:00 PM EST

Our show focuses on someone virtually unknown to wolfdog people, but has been one of the "protectors" of wolves in Wisconsin. She has been a pre-emptive and pro-active voice for wolves by her deeds and actions.  Rachel founded Wolves of Douglas County Wisconsin in 2012 to bring attention to the brutality in the Wisconsin Wolf hunt. She could not fathom wolves going from endangered to hunted in such a brutal manner.

She is a grandmother, artist, educator and naturalist. Her journey has been inspirational. She is a true leader in the wolf community because she leads by example and teaches with results. In Rachel's own words "I fought for them and will always fight for them. I want my grandchildren to grow up in a world where wolves can live free from hate, and persecution. Where wolves are appreciated for what they contribute to the health of our ecosystems. Wolves are essential and wolf hunts are about power, not conservation. Let's serve earth, not special interests bent on stripping the life out of our last precious wild places where wolves live and raise their families."  Join Wolfdog Radio for this special show introducing Rachel to us all. Cry with us, laugh with us, rejoice with us, and then do something about it!

Lets Talk With Rachel & Bennet Mark Torres

    in Pop Culture

Huffington Post columnist Rachel Thompson and Critic/writer/columnist for Night Owl Magazine and Affaire De Couer Bennet Pomerantz discuss media topics with guests.

    Mark Torres Bio:

I began my professional career in 1989 at New York University as a refrigeration engineer.  While working at NYU, I was interested in doing more with my life so I applied to college to "see how things go".  I earned an associate’s degree from NYU in 2001 and later a bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, in 2003.  At the time, I was also serving as a Shop Steward for our local union and it was this representative role that directly led to interest in going to law school.  I applied to and accepted into Fordham Law and earned my JD in 2008 after enduring 4 years of a legal education while working full time in the day and taking classes at night and raising a family.  Of course, none of this would have been possible without my lovely wife Dalia who held down the fort, so to speak, and raised our wonderful children!

After earning a law degree, I worked at a large law firm for a short while before accepting my current position which I have proudly held for 7 years now.  Today I serve as General Counsel and Director of Legal Affairs Teamsters Union Local 810 and their benefit funds.  As General Counsel for the Union, I am the sole attorney representing nearly 3400 members and their families at their places of employment.

In December 2014, I released my debut novel entitled “A Stirring in the North Fork”.

Mark Torres is a husband, father, attorney and author.  He currently resides in Nassau County, NY with his family.
