Brain Injury. The reason. The 'Call'. The Wait. Oh the wait. Hard to imagine 'the wait' unless you've lived it, traumaticly. No matter the accident, stoke or immediant brain issue, unless you lived one and survived, well you probably slept while all or most was going on around you. Inner Trauma, if you will. So it is very common to believe the brain injury mostly affects only the survivor, seeing how they seem to be the only one with tubes running in and out. Following most injuries out societ is used to paying attention to only the patients needs - if the handicap is obvious. TBI's usually aren't visual to the 'naked' eye.
However, for those that has actually esperienced an ABI/TBI, you may have learned differnetly. Most learn on their own accords of experience. Brain Injury affects the whole family, normally. Yes, some families simply don't care to get involved, and roll away. Blow them away as fast as you can, you have a life you are relearning. Let's not learn that family is a bad thing. "They are what they are." But tonight, get over yourself, if you can for a moment. Lets focus on a better understand what the family, and why it is important to p;aly attention to their needs as well. They love you, and we are ALL confused. When Dr. Backhaus taught me this years ago, I started moving forward faster. My family? Stuck in the slow lane, per usual. They don't care about anything but theirself. I lost my primary Caregiver to death last year, but the beat goes on in my family. Mercadi Duffin, my youngest daughter, stays with me or stops in often, just "checking on me". By my side since the beginning. She's in the Studio now. Talk to her, (424) 243-9540.

Are you frustrated because the bulk of the caregiving falls on your shoulders?
Are you irritated because you caregiving sibling acts like a martyr?
Are you at a loss for how you can contribute to care when you live so far away?
Do you and your sibling(s) disagree about end of life decisions?
Let's talk about these issues to see if we can mend some sibling rivalry rifts or see the problems from a different perspective. Kim Shea is an experienced caregiver. She has worked in a nursing home and seen how adult children handle matters involving their parents' care. Kim has two brothers and four children of her own so she's well versed in the topic.

If Matthew Noel was your Attorney and he did not show up in your case for Court appearances please contact me or Public Defenders Office Division of Inspection and Appeals Kurt Swaim 515.242.6158. This is the attorney we asked to be replaced several times because he was billing the County and not coming to court to represent my daughter in her DHS case she had no representation. My Attorney also filed the Appeals and he billed the County. He was made a Judge in April of 2013 we do not need this type of Attorney or Judge in our Family Courts.
