How might we look at genomics in office practice in Family Medicine? Dr. Jonas, your host for the Dr. Synonymous Show, will dream a bit about what we are doing now and what might be.
Responding to patients with painful situations is challenging in Family Medicine. We love our patients. They hurt- we help. But, their brain might get dysregulated by the pain via "wind-up" and potentially by opiate medications for persistent moderate or severe pain. With FDA tightening up on prescribing rules for , many more patients are seeing their doctor monthly. How do we respond to their frustrations at having to come in monthly for their pain management?
Pain is a paradox in Family Medicine. Listen in for further discussion.
Linda Lombardo and Joss Rowlands continue the conversation about what is leadership and how the dark underbelly shows up when we least expect it.
This month's topic: Authentic Leadership - Well, ok, you might say - If it's not authentic, then what is it?
Here's a quote from a 2013 article on leadership: a Forbes article by contributor Kevin Kruse.
"It continues to surprise me how many leaders attempt to be one way at work, while their ‘true’ personality emerges outside of work. Once a CEO reminded me, ‘Leadership is acting.’ And it surprises me when these same leaders seem shocked or confused when their employees don’t trust them, don’t like them, and can’t really wait to work elsewhere." -Kevin Kruse, Forbes
Joss and Linda explore the paradox of authentic leadership within the dark underbelly, or perhaps its the paradox of the dark underbelly within authentic leadership? Please join us to find out.

In Genesis 12:8 Abram moves to a mountain East of Bethel. Bethel is blblically defined as "the place where God dwells or God's place". Abram built an alter there and called on the name of the Lord. As Abram continued his journey to the south, he encounters a famine as he sojourns into Egypt. When he enters Egypt he asks his wife to pretend to be his sister, an act that causes more harm than good. Sometimes a promise from God will incease our belief until we are at a point of expectancy. And when there is an intervening event that causes our belief to fail, our flesh can rage with disappointment which causes us to act out in a manner that disagrees with the thing or situation that God wants us to believe. God is still faithful to establish His will even when we fail in expectation.

Enter The Paradox is a melting of styles and sounds forming a new and exciting experience evolving since frontman Brian Bolen first started cutting tracks in Los Angeles, CA during the summer of 2012. A mix of cutting edge rock, psychedelic, pop punk and hardcore styles, fused together with a classical influence, bring their sound together in ways never before experienced. The screams and staccato like vocals, powerful harmonies and apathetic choruses also help drive the emotion that Enter The Paradox so skillfully embraces. Driving guitar leads, brought to life by Bolen, push the sound of Enter The Paradox to the limit. Bolen’s unique sound and technical mastery of the guitar brings a forceful and captivating tone to the band, as well as his lyrics which brings a story of love, trust, betrayal, revenge, and mayhem to life. The vocals of frontman Brian Bolen tie the band together with a unique sound that conveys all of the style, emotion, pain and power that is Enter The Paradox. Bolen teamed up with Reid Cunningham, in the summer of 2012, and Ben Garland 2014 to complete Enter The Paradox. With Garland's hardcore-influenced rhythm and vocals, as well as Cunningham’s precise execution of metal and jazz technique on drums; they complete this power house of rock headed straight to the 4th dimension!
