The present number of knowledgeable American adults of the cruel act of striking America’s sons and daughters in schools with wooden boards still being legal, is sufficient for having this class of “voiceless” citizens gain federal “legislative protection” from this practice swiftly (targeted primarily at socioeconomically-disadvantaged students and those having special needs, particularly nonverbal autism).
The bill is already in the hands of the appropriate federal leader, John Kline, US Education Committee Chairman (also member of US Armed Services), having been introduced to Congress, not once, not twice, but three times by the lovely New York Representative Carolyn McCarthy, widowed through an egregious act of violence, herself (having in mind a decrease in crime through a decrease in teacher-to-student assaults).
Chairman Kline is empowered to bring this brutal form of student “bullying” by American educators to an end--he also receives a six-figured salary to do so.

A Texas Justice of the Peace gave parents the option of paddling their 14 year old daughter or a $500 fine and a misdemeanor record. They chose paddling. Sometime afterwards, they brought suit against the Justice, saying the paddling caused humiliation, fear and mental anguish. Are these parents justified and should corporal punishment be used to discipline children? That story is the topic of conversation in The Virtual Living Room. Listen in, this will be an interesting conversation.

Before there was a women’s ‘movement’, there were women who were changing the social culture because they had the gumption to change their lives. When these changes reached social awareness, the “women’s movement” became a wave on which many floated while few really did the paddling. As women took their well-earned roles in family, business and political leadership, the foundational issues became secondary to politicized points that are pedantic by comparison.
And so, the women’s movement today seems to revolve around abortion rights birth control pills. but its roots and purpose meant so much more to America in general and women in particular. It is almost forgotten that the right to vote, the right to work, and the right to privacy are cornerstones cut and set by unnamed, grey-haired warrior women who fought the battles before the issues ever became headlines.
There is no question that women, as citizens, professionals, athletes and soldiers, are as valuable as men, and that is in the best interest of America. But the hard-fought history is getting buried in half-baked headlines. To really understand, it could be said that “you had to be there!” Norma Yaeger was there!

Working towards something significant is sort of like surfing. You have to paddle against the tide to reach the wave and if you stop paddling the tide will push you backwards. But if you just keep going you might finally hit the wave. When you do you might fall off your board. Or, what you thought was a big wave might turn out to be just a ripple. But if you keep going, one day you’ll be riding the wave of success. That day could be right around the corner.
