This is I.T. (Inconvenient Truth)!!! – Drug Debate/ Treatment Options

With the CDC and different states trying to limit the options for those using opiates to help control pain. The debate is whether those on opiates are addicts or patients. Another debate within the Chronic Pain Community is if you don’t take prescribed medication than the person may not be suffering as much as those who do. Let’s look at what is being state and by whom. Is there a difference on who says what? Are those who suffer from Chronic Pain relying too heavily on doctors to give them a “Cure” of “Hope?” Call in and give us your thoughts and opinions as we work to a solution in which everyone can work together and fight for the cause.

O YE Drybones: Most Effective Devil In America = MEDIA

    in Current Events

This is no accident; this is a carefully crafted design. The drive to dumb down the populations of planet earth is a classic art that existed before the United States did. One component to understanding and deciphering the systems of control is to become a student of the magicians of influence and propaganda. In order to defeat our enemies (or dictators), its imperative that we understand how they think and what they believe in.Experiments conducted by researcher Herbert Krugman reveal that when a person watches television, brain activity switches from the left to the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere is the seat of logical thought. Here, information is broken down into its component parts and critically analyzed. The right brain, however, treats incoming data uncritically, processing information in wholes, leading to emotional, rather than logical responses. The shift from left to right brain activity also causes the release of endorphins, the body's own natural opiates--thus, it is possible to become physically addicted to watching television, a hypothesis borne out by numerous studies which have shown that very few people are able to kick the television habit. Do you think that the recent fall of the stock market, and the weakened economy, have been caused by poor people --presumably of which a high amount where disproportionately African Americans--that made contract with mortgage companies they knew they couldn't afford? Or do you believe that the economy's recent fall was caused by the Sept. 11 attacks masterminded by Osama bin Laden, operating from a cave in Afghanistan?Propaganda techniques were first codified and applied in a scientific manner by journalist Walter Lippman and psychologist Edward Bernays (nephew of Sigmund Freud) borrowed directly from Latin. The singular, medium, early developed the meaning “an intervening agency, means, or instrument”

The NJ Connect for Recovery Call Line

    in Health

The Mental Health Association in New Jersey has started a service to help address the growing number of opiate addictions in the state. The NJ Connect for Recovery Call Line number is 855-652-3737 (TTY: 877-294-4356). NJ Connect for Recovery is also unique because it is the only call line in New Jersey specifically focused on individuals and families coping with addiction to heroin and prescription painkillers.

This service is a safe, confidential, nonjudgmental place that New Jerseyan may call to connect, grow and transform through a unique combination of supportive counseling services. People calling on behalf of themselves have access to a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Those calling on behalf of a family member or friend are connected to a Peer Specialist who understands the unique and complex effect of addiction on personal relationships.

On our show we will talk with Stephanie Mulfinger, LCSW, Director of Call Center Services and Don Hebert, Volunteer Coordinator for NJ Connect for Recovery, about the urgent need for this line, how it works and how the community can get involved.

The Resilient Brain-reading excerpts, Molecules of Emotion, C. Pert

    in Science

Noon Saturdays, "The Resilient Brain," host Kathy Kitts

Today, I'll read excerpts from the excellent and ground-breaking book, Molecules of Emotion.  The author is Candace Pert, and if you have never heard of her or her book, you are in for a special treat! Ms. Pert faced many challenges as a woman in the male-dominated National Institutes of Health.  Despite this, she was the scientist to discover the opiate receptor site on the human cell.  We now call these natural opiates we produce, "endorphins."

Do join us to listen to how these "molecules of emotion" were discovered, and what exactly they are.  We'll have some fascinating facts as well.  Did you know that even insects produce molecules which translate into some sort of emotion?
