The Exchange - It's Been Too Long

    in Sports

    Six months.

A lot can change in six months, and it certainly has. Yet, when the calendar flipped to April and the sports world began to gear up towards the most exciting time of the year, it was damn near impossible to stay dormant another day longer.

    Tonight, The Exchange is back!

Sumit and Jason have missed the masses, and hopefully the masses feel the same. Oh, and it's the fourth anniversary of the show, so now would be a great time to sort of celebrate.

The guys are joined by the newest addition to The Sports Fan Journal family and Memphis native Rosalyn Ross as the trio will dive into the upcoming NBA playoffs. They'll talk about teams of intrigue, players of note, the races for 8th in both conferences and DAMMIT, KLAY THOMPSON DID IT AGAIN!

Since it's been a while, this is the point in the link where we remind you to come through on The Exchange in the chat room, on Twitter (@skd_thExchange, @asportsscribe & @R_Trinity) and the phone lines at 347-202-0247. Don't forget to favorite The Exchange on Stitcher Radio!

    The Exchange - Deflate This!

    in Sports

    Tom Brady got suspended.

Four words that have erupted a collective conniption among football fans and media across the country.

It's almost unavoidable, but in the middle of the NBA and Stanley Cup playoffs, Sumit & Jason will talk about Deflategate on The Exchange. There's anger and some comedy to be had.

They will also dive into the ongoing conference semifinals in the NBA and the myriad of craziness the games have given us in the last week thanks to buzzer-beaters and injuries to key players.

    The Exchange - Ocean's FIFA

    in Sports

If you're going to be corrupt, at least do it big like a movie villain. And goodness, no one knows how to be corrupt in sports like FIFA. When the IRS calls an investigation "the World Cup of fraud" in a press conference, you know the dirty deeds were done at impressively high levels.

On a Wednesday edition of The Exchange, Sumit and Jason chat will talk about the arrests and indictments of multiple high-level FIFA officials in Switzerland and the investigation here in the United States. From the comical to the unnerving to the maddening, they'll jump into it all as the possible extradition and further arrests are still happening. They will also throw a few thoughts out on the ongoing NBA Western Conference Finals and the conference finals in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Exchange - We Now Join the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Already in Progress

    in Sports

Why in the world is anyone talking about anything other than, you know, sports actually being played right now? Shoutout to all talking about a third-string quarterback.

On The Exchange, Jason will be joined by frequent guest and fellow colleague at The Sports Fan Journal, Dillon Friday to talk about the ongoing first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

There are plenty of questions to ask as sixteen teams slowly whittle down to eight. Can the Pittsburgh Penguins restore some of their luster against the favorites to win the East in the New York Rangers? Will the Islanders continue the party to close out Nassau Coliseum? What can we make of the most interesting series going between St. Louis and Minnesota? Further, what can we take from the commanding series leads by Montreal and Anaheim, the latter with three brilliant comeback wins against the Winnipeg Jets?

The Exchange - The Fight and the Fury of Many

    in Sports

Some will order the event on pay-per-view, some will not. Many will watch through alternative means or go to fight parties. After Saturday, all will look for a new statement on the legacy of the victor, for better or worse.

On the best Saturday in sports, the high stakes playoff games of the NBA and NHL, the intrigue of baseball, the shoehorned "me too!" end of the NFL Draft and the Kentucky Derby are actually preludes to a historic evening in Las Vegas.

On a Wednesday edition of The Exchange, Sumit and Jason are joined by The Sports Fan Journal's boxing and MMA columnist Paul Navarro as they will discuss the welterweight megafight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. They will not only dive into their observations of the fight itself, but the controversies around it. With boycott calls as well as the well-sourced Deadspin article regarding Mayweather's history with domestic violence, what will still end up being the most lucrative fight card in boxing history is also one with an omnipotent morality play.

They will also discuss where the sport has been trending with its increased presence on television thanks Al Haymon's multi-channel Premier Boxing Champions series.

The Exchange - Diamond in the Rough (of Mid May)

It's almost easy to forget that baseball season is now seven weeks old, but in the beautiful sporting chaos the middle of May gives us, you can be forgiven for not keeping a close eye on it all.

On The Exchange, Sumit and Jason bring in friend of the program and The Sports Fan Journal baseball scribe Matt Whitener. From the early surprises and disappointments to the hilarity surrounding Alex Rodriguez vs. Yankee management to the absurdity of the Marlins to the most impressive players so far, the guys will get the masses up to speed on what's going on in Major League Baseball a quarter of the way into the season.

They will also spend some time talking about the ongoing NBA playoffs as the conference finals are set to begin this week in Atlanta and Oakland.

The Exchange - Our Third Birthday/NBA Playoffs

    in Sports

Sometimes, birthdays sneak up on you. Not this one.

On April 26, 2011, The Exchange launched its first show. In the three years since, it's provided more than traditional analysis and done its best to spin the "hot button topic" into significant... well, exchanges. Whether it's been fun banter about teams that torture their fans to serious discussions about gay athletes to nuanced conversations about the sports business, The Exchange has done its part to make everyone better and more aware fans, regardless of the games of interest to the people.

Consider this third birthday a celebration of all of us.

On the observed third born day of The Exchange, Sumit and Jason bring back an old friend, Michael Tillery of The Starting Five and host of The Starting Five Radio to talk about the ongoing NBA playoffs. They'll take a glance at each of the first round series, but also discuss the head coaching questions surrounding Indiana's Frank Vogel and Golden State's Mark Jackson as both seem to have a more discerning microscope on them in the postseason.

There has never been a time like this in the history of big-time American sports. Never.

Sumit and Jason bring you another Wednesday edition of The Exchange, where they attempt to comprehend the absolute disaster that is the NFL's handling of Ray Rice after its initial and controversial two-game suspension. With new details emerging day since the infamous video of Rice striking of his now-wife, there are as many questions as there are angry fans. They'll bring up a few, including questions of the future of commissioner Roger Goodell, the short and long-term impact for the league and most importantly, where sports leagues go from here in regards to such a serious issue.

The Exchange - The Withdrawl Ends

    in Sports

As of tomorrow night when the Green Bay Packers visit the home of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, withdrawl from America's heroin officially ends. A week after the nationwide return of the collegiate game, the pros return to the gridiron to bring the NFL back to our sporting conscious.

On a special Wednesday edition of The Exchange, Sumit and Jason will provide a season preview as sorts; which has always differed from the norm since 2011. They'll start with a long overdue discussion on some of the recent headlines related to the personal conduct policy and the new domestic violence policy set by the league. Outside of on-field action, there may not be a more discussed and dissected topic at the start of the season (save for an unexpected strong start by a team with a controversial name).

They'll spend the second frame with quick glances into each division, including individual expectations on where the teams will end up at season's end.
