The Exchange - We Now Join the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Already in Progress

    in Sports

Why in the world is anyone talking about anything other than, you know, sports actually being played right now? Shoutout to all talking about a third-string quarterback.

On The Exchange, Jason will be joined by frequent guest and fellow colleague at The Sports Fan Journal, Dillon Friday to talk about the ongoing first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

There are plenty of questions to ask as sixteen teams slowly whittle down to eight. Can the Pittsburgh Penguins restore some of their luster against the favorites to win the East in the New York Rangers? Will the Islanders continue the party to close out Nassau Coliseum? What can we make of the most interesting series going between St. Louis and Minnesota? Further, what can we take from the commanding series leads by Montreal and Anaheim, the latter with three brilliant comeback wins against the Winnipeg Jets?

The Exchange - Our Third Birthday/NBA Playoffs

    in Sports

Sometimes, birthdays sneak up on you. Not this one.

On April 26, 2011, The Exchange launched its first show. In the three years since, it's provided more than traditional analysis and done its best to spin the "hot button topic" into significant... well, exchanges. Whether it's been fun banter about teams that torture their fans to serious discussions about gay athletes to nuanced conversations about the sports business, The Exchange has done its part to make everyone better and more aware fans, regardless of the games of interest to the people.

Consider this third birthday a celebration of all of us.

On the observed third born day of The Exchange, Sumit and Jason bring back an old friend, Michael Tillery of The Starting Five and host of The Starting Five Radio to talk about the ongoing NBA playoffs. They'll take a glance at each of the first round series, but also discuss the head coaching questions surrounding Indiana's Frank Vogel and Golden State's Mark Jackson as both seem to have a more discerning microscope on them in the postseason.

Come through and celebrate three years of The Exchange by coming through in the chat room, on Twitter (@skd_thExchange, @asportsscribe & @michaeltillery) and the phone line at 347-202-0247. Don't forget to favorite the show on Stitcher Radio!

    in Sports

There has never been a time like this in the history of big-time American sports. Never.

Sumit and Jason bring you another Wednesday edition of The Exchange, where they attempt to comprehend the absolute disaster that is the NFL's handling of Ray Rice after its initial and controversial two-game suspension. With new details emerging day since the infamous video of Rice striking of his now-wife, there are as many questions as there are angry fans. They'll bring up a few, including questions of the future of commissioner Roger Goodell, the short and long-term impact for the league and most importantly, where sports leagues go from here in regards to such a serious issue.

The Exchange - The Withdrawl Ends

    in Sports

As of tomorrow night when the Green Bay Packers visit the home of the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, withdrawl from America's heroin officially ends. A week after the nationwide return of the collegiate game, the pros return to the gridiron to bring the NFL back to our sporting conscious.

On a special Wednesday edition of The Exchange, Sumit and Jason will provide a season preview as sorts; which has always differed from the norm since 2011. They'll start with a long overdue discussion on some of the recent headlines related to the personal conduct policy and the new domestic violence policy set by the league. Outside of on-field action, there may not be a more discussed and dissected topic at the start of the season (save for an unexpected strong start by a team with a controversial name).

They'll spend the second frame with quick glances into each division, including individual expectations on where the teams will end up at season's end.

The Exchange - Getting Into Some Fisticuffs

    in Sports

On The Exchange, Sumit and Jason return to the sweet science as boxing and MMA scribe for The Sports Fan Journal, Paul Navarro, comes through to talk about this weekend's upcoming bout between the highly touted junior middleweights. From discussing what makes both fighters such standouts to what can be expected thiss Saturday, they'll speak on what this fight means in the coming months.

The Exchange - It's Not Easy Being Striped

    in Sports

It may seem like a broken record, but week after week, season after season, the early season reviews of NFL officiating have been damning. This one is no different.

On The Exchange, Sumit and Jason delve into the way NFL games have been called by the referees, line judges and others over the season's first three weeks. They will also spend some time revisiting the continuing controversies surrounding Roger Goodell, the league office, the Baltimore Ravens and the Minnesota Vikings.

The Exchange - Black and Silver

    in Sports

If your teams wear black and silver, chances are that they may have won their league championships this weekend.

(Note that it says black and silver, not silver and black, so hold onto those Oakland Raiders jokes for the fall, k? K.)

On The Exchange, Sumit and Jason revisit championship weekend as both the Los Angeles Kings and San Antonio Spurs took home the crowns in the NHL and NBA. They'll talk about the aftermath of one of the most exciting "gentlemen's sweeps" in Stanley Cup Final history between the Kings and the New York Rangers; including a glance at the offseason picture for both teams. They'll flip over to the hardwood and the much-discussed post-NBA Finals world we're now in after the Spurs dispatched the Miami Heat. They'll also add some thoughts on the playoff fandom in both leagues as well.

Of course, it wouldn't be right if there weren't any words on the late Tony Gwynn, who passed away this past Monday.

The Launch of The Sisterhood Exchange Book Club

    in Women

The book has been updated, revised and released in paperback form, and it's getting rave reviews. Because one of the most frequent bits of feedback Michelle gets is that women are reading and re-reading the book, the idea of a book club to discuss it is the natural thing to do! The other feedback is that once a woman reads it, she doubles back to purchase additional copies for her sistahfriends! If that's not book club material, then what is?

Join host and book club facilitator Michelle Hollinger tonight at 7:30pm as she and women from around the country embark on a very important discussion about sisterhood.

Get the book at http://www.amazon.com/Sisterhood-Exchange-Michelle-Hollinger-ebook/dp/B00T72LPK6/ref=sr_1_1_twi_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1424898704&sr=8-1&keywords=the+sisterhood+exchange+paperback, fix yourself a cup of tea or pour a glass of wine and join us for what is likely to be the most awesome book club you've ever experienced!

    The Exchange - Soccer Imperialism

    in Sports

It's called a worldwide party as 32 nations are represented in the largest sporting event on the planet. Yet, like another multinational event like the Olympics, it's considered a platform for something more than sports for better or worse.

And even during the NBA Finals and Stanley Cup Final, it'll dominate the sports landscape for the next month.

After a three-week hiatus, Sumit and Jason return to the 'net waves with The Exchange's first ever trip to the soccer pitch with the highly-anticipated World Cup begins this Thursday. They're joined by long-time friends of the program Dillon Friday of The Sports Fan Journal and Ken Fang from Fang's Bites & Awful Announcing to discuss a myriad of topics. Off-pitch, they'll chat on the construction controversies, the ever-maligned FIFA and the spotlight on inequity that has defined Brazil in recent years.

They'll come stateside and have a somewhat predictable discussion about the growth of the sport's popularity in the last four years since South Africa before ending the show discussing the US side and the contenders on the pitch.
