Today we are speaking with Julie Jones, EHR Clinical Application Analyst Staff at Fletcher Allen Health Care about Social Networking for Nurses and its importance. The number of healthcare facilities that make use of social media increased by 210 percent between 2009 and 2011.
With experience as a nurse for over 15 years, Ms. Jones has experience in various settings which include Oncology, Women’s Health, Surgery, Medicine, Endoscopy, and most recently as clinical informatics nurse in the electronic health record department.
As an active member with the STTI Honor Society, Julie quickly began to implement online platforms to help improve communication within her chapter to grow a stronger community within the vast geographical area. From this experience, Julie grasped the possibility to use electric platforms to help organize and address certain issues amongst a community. Due to her positive experience, Ms. Jones championed to integrate electronic health records (EHR) into her work environment. Today, we will be discussing about social networking for nurses, and the effect that it can have on the medical profession.

How does music therapy work?
Music therapy is facilitated through a variety of interventions including patient song choices, music making, song writing, improvisation, and guided relaxation. Other times, the music therapist works alongside other healthcare disciplines such as nurses, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist, using music during physical rehabilitation to inspire movement and promote encouragement by accompanying movement through musical cues, which also helps peoople become distracted from the pain. On Monday, December 15th, at 8PM eastern we are pleased to interview Amy Joy Smith.
Amy Joy Smith is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Functional Medicine and heads up the integrative PANS / PANDAS Treatment Program of Hill Park Medical Center in Petaluma, California. She is the mother of an amazing child who has healed from PANDAS and a dedicated PANDAS awareness advocate.
Amy has practiced functional and nutritional medicine since the early 1980′s and has studied with a number of pioneers in the field. Her treatments are progressive and blend the best of medical science with leading edge natural therapies and using food as medicine. Her first PANDAS patient was her own son in 2009 and she now sees hundreds of children with PANDAS from all over the world. She brings the same creative approach to treating these children as she used with her own child and believes that this is the only way to get kids better – fearless out-of-box thinking and a belief that children can recover from PANDAS.
Amy serves on the PANDAS Network.org.org Board of Directors and was the lead organizer of the West Coast PANDAS/PANS Parent Symposiums held in San Francisco in April 2012 and 2014. She has spoken at several PANDAS conferences and recently had the honor of giving a workshop with Dr. Susan Swedo to over 200 school nurses in Rhode Island on recognizing PANDAS in school children and providing educational supports and accommodations! Imagine that!
Amy’s personal blog on the journey of her son’s illness and recovery from PANDAS – and now her own personal recovery from PANDAS-Hell – receives thousands of hits from all over the world. Her intention is that it provides hope and inspiration for families in the thick of it, that there is a roadmap and there is life beyond PANDAS.
I feel compelled to share my visions regarding my preidcitions for 2014. I made a prediction video on http://youtube.com/mia0899cs and I am starting to see some of them already occur. One was a major virus which I said would occur around March. I saw gurneys with people in the hallways of the ER as the entire hospital team was running around to help these people. The triage nurses had to send patients to other hospitals as there was no more room. Then I recently heard on Friday that there has been deaths due to a Mystery Virus in CA which presents like polio. It's first symptoms are just respiratory and then there is weakness in the limbs.
I also checked the status of H1N1 in PA from the CDC and there has been many deaths linked to this virus. Many people feel they are immuned from it as H1N1 is included in the flu vaccine. I will tell you what is going on with that. Are you actually safer with the flu vaccine?
I talked about Fema Zone 3 and the 15,000 Russian troops deployed to this area. President Obama actually said that it was due to an impending natural disaster as well as former Homeland Department Director, Janet Napolitano.
How do you know there is going to be a natural disaster? I also will share what others shared with me in their comments. One girl felt there is going to be a Tsunami occurring in the Atlantic Ocean.
I will also answer a psychic question that you have.
If you would like to contact me for a reading, please go to Kasamba and type in psychic name Mia0899cs. I will give you a detailed reading for $20.00. I normally charge $30.00.
I am also available by phone and my status is always online at Kasamba. I will take your call at anytime.

In this day and age, healthcare and technology are synonymous. It is not enough anymore for health care professionals to simply know their trade, they must also learn the technology that has shaped their trade in countless ways; from software programs to medical equipment and devices. In this week's episode of iNurse Radio, we sit down with Edward Stern, a seasoned registered nurse to talk about healthcare and technology and more specifically the role of nurses in healthcare technology.
Edward Stern has nearly three decades of experience in public speaking and business process development. He is a Registered Nurse with a wide ranging knowledge of clinical informatics as well as training. He is a Former Board member for CARING: An International Nursing Informatics Organization as well as Former President of the Emergency Nurses Association.
he Tavares brothers, whose parents were of Cape Verbena descent, started performing in 1959 as Chubby and the Turnpikes when the youngest brother was 9 years old. Future Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer appeared as the "token white-guy drummer" in an early incarnation of Tavares. Chubby and The Turnpikes signed with Capitol Records in 1967 and had a couple of local hit records including "I Know The Inside Story" in 1967 and "Nothing But Promises" in 1968. By 1973, they had changed their name to Tavares and scored their first R&B Top 10 (Pop Top 40) hit with "Check it Out" that same year, and soon began charting regularly on the R&B and pop charts. Their first album included their brother Victor, who sang lead on "Check it Out", but dropped out of the group shortly after. In 1974 Tavares had a #1 R&B hit with Hall & Oates' "She's Gone," (which became a hit for Hall & Oates as well two years later). Tavares followed up that success with "Remember What I Told You to Forget."
1975 turned out to be their most successful year chart-wise, chalking up a Top 40 Pop album (In the City) and their biggest hit, the Top 10 Pop/#1 R&B smash "It Only Takes a Minute", which was later successfully covered by both Jonathan King and Take That, and recently sampled by Jennifer Lopez. They parlayed this success into a spot as an opening act for The Jackson 5 KC and The Sunshine Band was also on this tour. "Minute" was followed by a string of hits: "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" (1976), "Don't Take Away the Music" (1976), and "Whodunit" (1977, another #1 R&B hit), among others. In 1977 they also recorded "I Wanna See You Soon", a duet with Capitol label mate Freda Payne which received airplay on BBC Radio 1 but failed to chart.
