This week the dynamic duo welcome the legendary R&B icons, Club Nouveau to the Cypher. Club Nouveau was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Performance in 1987. Their version of "Lean on Me" was their most celebrated hit resulting in a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year in addition to winning the Grammy for Best R&B Song that same year. In 2013, the group independently released their newest single, "That Ain't Love," and is currently set for an independent release of their newest album, Consciousness, this year. Their current roster consists of original vocalists Jay King, Valerie Watson English, and Samuelle Prater. We have all three of them stopping by the Cypher Lounge to chop it up with Dasha and HP.
Also joining the party this week is acclaimed director, Nisha Pahuja. She is coming through to talk about her award winning film, The World Before Her. If you haven't heard of this masterpiece, it's damn good! The World Before Her is a tale of two Indias. I have lived in Paris, France for the past 20 years and plan to spend the rest of my life here. Discover Paris! specializes in Afro-centric walking tours and activities and gourmet tours. The majority of our activities are privately arranged. I am the author of two books: a cookbook called Food for the Soul - A Texas Expatriate Nurtures Her Culinary Roots in Paris and a travel book called Paris Reflections: Walks through African-American Paris. I am constantly researching black history and contemporary life in Paris to enhance the Afro-centric tour experience of Discover Paris! clients and write a blog called Entrée to Black Paris to share what is happening in the black Anglophone and Francophone communities here. I have published an e-book called Black Paris Profiles that features several members of today's African-American and Afro-Caribbean communities.
