Willie Nile is currently in the midst of a creative renaissance that’s produced some of the most compelling music of his 35-year career. The tradition continues with his CD American Ride. The CD is being released on Loud and Proud Records, where Nile becomes the first artist released under the label’s new deal with RED Distribution.“It’s pretty rockin’ over all, but there are some left turns and right turns along the way,” Nile says of the album, which was fan-funded through Pledgemusic.com. “There are songs about the rights of man, songs about freedom, songs about love and hate, songs about loss, songs about God and the absence of God, and songs about standing up for your fellow man. It’s upbeat and full of life. I’m thrilled with how it came out.”American Ride offers a bracing set of 11 original compositions, and one well-chosen cover, that rank with the catchiest and most vivid music that Nile’s ever delivered. From the everyday wisdom of “Life on Bleecker Street” and “Sunrise in New York City” to the broader observations of “This Is Our Time” and “Holy War” to the rock ’n’ roll abandon of “Say Hey” and the road-tripping title track. Several of American Ride’s recurring themes come into focus on the last two songs, “The Crossing” and “There’s No Place Like Home,” which end the album on a note of humanistic uplift. Another highlight is a fiery reading of Jim Carroll’s “People Who Died,” recorded as a tribute to both Carroll, who passed away in 2009, and to Nile’s late brother John. American Ride features backup from Nile’s live band guitarist Matt Hogan, bassist Johnny Pisano, drummer Alex Alexander, and Nile on guitar & piano guest appearances by Eagles’ guitarist Steuart and New York singer-songwriters James Maddock & Leslie Mendelson.

Enid Shomer won the Iowa Short Fiction Award for her first collection of stories, "Imaginary Men", and the Florida Book Awards Gold Medal for her second, "Tourist Season". She is also the author of four books of poetry.
Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, The Paris Review, and many other publications. "The Twelve Rooms of the Nile" (Simon & Schuster, 2012), is her first novel.
Ms. Shomer's work has been collected in more than fifty anthologies and textbooks, including "POETRY: A Harper Collins Pocket Anthology", "Best American Poetry", and "New Stories from the South: The Year’s Best".
"The Twelve Rooms of the Nile" is a fascinating account of the fictional (and intellectually and emotionally intense) meeting in Egypt of a young Florence Nightingale and the French writer Gustave Flaubert.
Shomer conducted extensive research about the concurrent Egyptian travels of Nightingale and Flaubert, and she has great insight into the early years of Nightingale's life.
This will be an edifying and exciting interview in which the myth and story of Florence Nightingale will play a central role.
In 2013, Shomer received the Lifetime Achievement Award in Writing from the Florida Humanities Council.
The author lives in Tampa, Florida.

She finally got sober in her home area of South Bay. She went to somewhere around 700 meetings in the two years that she slipped, slid and hid her drinking before she found solid ground. Weathering the shame and embarrassment she continued to “keep coming back”. After a beautiful sober retreat weekend with her sponsor she went home and got loaded. Scared and unable to stand her husband’s disgust she asked a treatment doc for Antabuse. She came to realize that she had lost the power of choice and had no control over her drinking. Join us this Sunday to hear Cathy tell her story of perseverance and recovery.

After attending Menlo College in Atherton California, Nile Evans decided to pursue his long time career goal of a Television writer/producer. He called on a valuable resource within his family, Executive Producer and Creator of the Jamie Foxx Show and "Martin", Bentley Kyle Evans took him under his wing as a Writers Apprentice on the hit Television Show, The Jamie Foxx Show. On the off seasons, Nile worked along with many film and television writing crews in Hollywood, like Jamie Foxx, Martin Lawrence, and rising Star Nick Cannon. Nile's relationship with Nick Cannon led him to help Nick to develop his first talk show pilot for Nickelodeon. The creative synergy was solidified as Nile worked with Nick as a Development Executive within Nick's Production Company, "Mr. Renaissance". Under that banner Nile was a Co-Creator and Executive Producer of MTV's hit television show "Wild'n Out", an improv-comedy show in which they produced 4 seasons and 50 episodes. After producing a Pilot for Reality Giant's 51 Minds, Nile used his relationships with them and talent Ray-J to bring them together to produce his own hit reality show "For the Love of Ray-J" for VH1.
