Jessica Pettitt, Founder of “I am Social Justice”
Jessica Pettitt is the “diversity educator” your family warned you about. She is easy to work with, accessible, and brings VERY simple concepts that are really hard to incorporate into our lives. Where Gandhi may want you to Be The Change You Want To See In The World, Jessica asks for you to actually Be the Change You Want To Be, not just see it.
She has been nominated for two years by Campus Activities Magazine for Best Diversity Artist. Her programs take participants on a journey weaving together politics, theory, current events, and story telling with large doses of humor reminiscent of Bob Newhart, George Carlin, and Paula Poundstone. Participants leave her highly interactive program with actual action steps to make REAL change in their lives.
Jessica takes 10+ years of experience to stage as part of her mission to inspire change, dismantle oppression, and recognize our privilege. Jessica has figured out how to BE the change she wants to BE. Now it’s YOUR turn!

Without live mixing, the audio quality is questionable, distorting even, but with 3 live events of the week, 3 celebrity deaths, several films and television shows and another way our brains lie to us each day it’s still YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour, full of the kind of free-wheeling, irreverent, insightful and occasionally inspiring conversation you’ve come to expect from your friends in podcasting, Dean Haglund and Phil Leirness!
Please enjoy responsibly.
The Fall TV season continues its gradual rollout this week, and Agents Anne Louise Bannon, Elise Crane Derby and Donna Schwartz Mills all have something to say about that.

The last time I talked to Robert Newhart, he had just started his HMA practice, had landed his first client by impressing the business owner with how much he knew about the company, and seemed to be well on his way. A few setbacks later, Robert’s persistence seems to finally be paying off.
Unfortunately for Robert, his first client is dragging his feet and hasn’t started any HMA projects yet, but that hasn’t discouraged him. He simply moved on. And in this interview, you’ll hear how he quickly landed two more clients and is working on ways to make the home-study course available for his smaller business prospects.
?? The sales pitch that gets Robert noticed wherever he goes
?? Why Robert’s first paying client says he’s done more for her business than she could possibly pay him for
?? How Robert takes full advantage of his local Chamber of Commerce meetings
?? How a couple of Robert’s potential clients could give him a lot more than just consulting fees
It hasn’t been easy for Robert, but he’s never given up, and in this audio,
you’ll hear how that persistence is paying off. And from the sounds of it,
it won’t be long before Robert’s consulting practice gets the reputation it deserves.

Wendy Segroves was born and raised in San Antonio, TX. Having only her mother there to raise her, she grew up very independent. From a very young age she was always interested in entertaining others. Her first time on stage came at the age of 18 months, where she was placed on stage to stay out of trouble, but quickly joined in with the choir and started singing along with the teenagers. Wendy’s mother realized at that moment that her daughter really enjoyed the spotlight.
Her next experience came when auditions were held in San Antonio for an upcoming film, ‘Little Miss Marker’, starring Walter Matthau, Julie Andrews, Tony Curtis, Bob Newhart, Lee Grant and Brian Dennehy. Auditions were being held for the lead role of the ‘The Kid’. Wendy’s mother was quick to get her into the auditions. Amazingly, with no experience, she was cast. This role came to a quick halt when the Director found out she was only 4 years old. He was dead set on having a girl aged 5 for the role, so he decided to let her go and cast a replacement. This was almost Wendy’s breakthrough moment into the film business.
Shortly after Wendy’s mother moved them to Oklahoma. It wasn’t long before her mother tried getting her involved with entertainment there. A talent search was being held for ‘The Oklahoma Kids’ in their area. Wendy auditioned and won. She spent the next few months traveling the state singing for different events, such as a party at the Governor’s Mansion with the Governor and The President.
