Celebrating the Life and Music of PRINCE

    in Music

Today the music world lost a legend - Prince Rogers Nelson.  He was born June 7, 1958 in Minneapolis, MN and named after his father's band The Prince Rogers Trio.  His first album "For You" was released on the Warner Brothers label in 1977.  But it was his 1979 self-titled album that put Prince on the pop music map on a grand scale with singles like "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and "Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad."  Throughout the years Prince racked up fans and awards and graced stages on sold-out tours as well as giving us memorable performances such as the Super Bowl XLI and the 2004 Grammys.

Tonight we celebrate the life and career of Prince.

    L.A. Jackson - Author, Musicology 2101

    in Books

Author, L.A. Jackson was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and spent his early years in New York City during the exciting advent of a new, yet undeveloped music form eventually named Hip Hop. Listening to the legendary DJ’s, and pioneering MC’s attending, house parties and roller skating events where the music was readily heard, Jackson fell in love with the genre and the music industry as a whole. He became interested in the formation of beats and sounds, the mechanics of the tools used by DJ’s and studio engineers and the production side of putting an album together. He decided that he wanted to be a part of the structure and expansion of music in all its facets...behind the scenes.
