On March 24 , on Nowruz ("New Day" in Persian), the Iranian New Year, a 5,000 year old celebration by hundreds of millions around the world, We resumed our conversation with  Moji Agha we began on our Feb. 18 show.  Moji is an Iranian-American bilingual poet and peace, human rights, and Earth activist. Trained as a cultural psychologist, he has founded many organizations and projects.  To fully appreciate what we talked about, you can listen to it at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/sfpiradio/2012/02/18/teachers-for-peace-in-gaza-with-mustafa-el-hawi.  You can also read one of Moji's essays regarding the roots of today's turmoil in Iran: http://www.payvand.com/news/09/aug/1027.html
Knowing the cultural history of Iran and the region helps understand how it can be protected both from colonialism and despotism- two inter-dependent sides of the same coin. We will discuss how the justice and democracy movement in Iran began and the obstacles it now faces.
We will discuss how Soldiers For Peace around the world can support our Iranian brothers and sisters in their struggle for freedom, justice and peace, even as we work for "integrated good" in our own nations.
SFPI Radio is the international talk show designed to allow those struggling for social justice around the world to talk to each other about how we can support efforts to promote justice, democracy and peace in every nation.

The corporate media of the West has repeated so many lies about the nuclear program and other imaginary threats from Iran that we need to get the word out about the truth. It is important that Americans understand the political scene in Iran, how it developed and the hopeful signs that democracy might still be possible.

In order to avoid war with Iran we have to begin to think of other nations in terms of their people, not their governments. As Americans are beginning to understand, there is a wide gulf between the two. Only in a democracy does the government reflect the people. The US government has no business trying to impose democracy on other nations. To even encourage it, citizens have to first mold it into a democracy.

On May 18 our guest was Moji Agha, an Iranian-American bilingual poet and peace, human rights, and Earth activist. Trained as a cultural psychologist, he has founded many organizations and projects.

Moji's latest project is the Mossadegh Legacy Institute, a foundation established to honor the legacy of Iran's first democratically elected Prime Minister, who was overthrown in a CIA-engineered coup in 1953. Moji is currently on a lecture tour to raise awareness of the importance of understanding the real threat to world peace posed by the US and to promote a sane foreign policy.

Know the truth and the truth will set you free.

On February 18 when our scheduled guest failed to show, we talked with Iranian expatriate Moji Agha, a cultural psychologist and poet who gave an Iranian’s view on the conflicts in the Mideast. He lived through the Islamic Revolution of 1979 and its continuation through the Reform and the ongoing Green Movements.
To understand how the Iranian people have been led to the precipice by a self-interested theocracy that abuses religion and nationalism, listen to this extraordinary show and share it with your friends. It provides a deeper understanding of the realities that citizens throughout the region face and the painful "realities" that keep the Peoples of the region from coming together in the interests of all.
We re-examine the artificially created religious, cultural and nationalistic distinctions that keep us divided and unable to struggle together against the hegemonic forces that are threatening to destroy human civilization.
We must keep hope alive and as Mohammad forgave those who tried to destroy the Islamic movement in its infancy, we must be magnanimous in victory when our forces of peace and light prevail over the forces of violence and darkness. Lasting peace will come only when we can forgive each other.
If the dream of democracy in Iran, Israel Palestine and the entire world is to be realized, it will depend on a generation prepared to live in peace with its former enemies. Read a brief interview with Moji here: http://www.soldiersforpeaceinternational.org/2012/02/un-personing-corporations.html
