Why LED lights are important and how the technology behind them matter

    in Environment

To Mike Watson, innovation only matters if it’s meaningful, and it requires equal parts ingenuity and action. His unique ability to balance technology development with consumer needs has been instrumental in driving Cree’s climbing position as the world’s fastest growing lighting company, and Most Innovative Company in Energy (Fast Company, 2015). Technology disruption is embedded in his DNA. Built on a foundation of engineering, strategic innovation and commercializing new technologies – as VP of product strategy at Cree, Mike blends relentless problem-solving with market-driven insight to advance customer experiences and drive Cree’s mission of 100 percent LED adoption.

Mike pioneered Cree’s disruptive entry into the consumer light bulb market, which has been pivotal in transforming LED technology from a novelty into a household name. Now he’s using brand marketing strategies to enable widespread demand for LED technology. In addition to his contributions to Cree, Mike is also a startup founder and patent holder for wireless.

HR Happy Hour 224 - iCIMS and Talent Acquisition Technology

    in Business

HR Happy Hour #224 - iCIMS and Talent Acquisition Technology

    Hosts: Steve Boese, Trish McFarlane

Guests: Madeline Laurano, Colin Day, Adam Feigenbaum

    Recorded Wednesday November 4, 2015

This week on the show, HR Happy Hour hosts Steve Boese and Trish McFarlane were at the recent iCIMS Analyst Day in San Diego, where they sat down with fellow analyst and official 'Friend of the HR Happy Hour' Madeline Laurano in Part 1 of the show, to talk about trends in HR and recruiting technology, and followed by a conversation with iCIMS CEO Colin Day, and COO Adam Feigenbaum about the state of the Applicant Tracking System, and the broader market for Talent Acquisition technology.

iCIMS has developed a substantial list of customers for its talent acquisition technology suite, and has made a commitment to talent acquisition as its primary focus - sort of unique among large, established HR tech companies, many of which are or have been pushing to develop or acquire additional or adjacent capabilities.

iCIMS has made a big bet that customers will understand and value what a provider solely focused on Talent Acquisition can offer, and on the show you can hear direct from iCIMS execs on why they have elected to stick with their core competency and how that benefits their customers.

This was a really interesting and fun event. Thanks to iCIMS for having myself and Trish out at the event, and also thanks to Madeline, Colin, and Adam for taking the time to be a part of the HR Happy Hour Show.

    Interview: Jon Wuebben of ContentLaunch

    in Marketing

I'm pretty excited about this podcast, our first in our new podcast studio at DK New Media! Jon Wuebben has been a long-time friend, we seem to bump into each other at every conference and love hanging out together. He's also an entertaining singer, the life of the dance floor, and can do a heck of a job on Karaoke.

Jon is a multi-book author and helps clients develop content strategies, deploy their content, and promote their content online. The frustrations of the industry led him to develop his own platform, ContentLaunch, for planning, coordinating, publishing and promoting content. It's primary focus is on the small and mid-size business market since Jon saw the industry only providing large, expensive, enterprise products to handle the process.

In the first half, we speak quite a bit about the platform, but the second half of the interview gets into some incredible detail on content marketing strategies and its use to build relationships with your prospects and customers. Be sure to listen - we've got great information throughout and will leave you with a task that will transform your content ideation strategy.
