N*GGA - The term n*gger has been viewed as the most derogatory word in English language. This term dates back to as early as the Revolutionary War. Recently a satirical letter to black artists, demanding that they move out of the way for white artists doing hip hop and R&B, has made its rounds on the internet. While the letter was made in comedic fashion, it has sent shockwaves throughout the music business. This Thursday on Talk of the Town, The Middle Men will break down the letter, and its impact on black music makers.
Back over the past century and a half, the Black Community has been fighting for the rights and standing up for all mankind. We have learned in history of many revered black leaders who have came to the forefront to speak out against the black race being considered not equal to the majority. With that being said, have we forgotten what our predecessors fought hard for during those years of wanting to have equality? Are as a people conditioned to bow down and not speak out for what is right? Are we scared to take back our communities and our place of businesses? Why do our black organizations appear to have less of a voice when it comes to the black community? We will also discuss Roland Martin and his suspension from CNN and Cody Smith, a senior at Gainesville High School, who will be the first Valedictorian of the high school in its history. However, the high school is attempting to have this young man share this accomplishment with one of his white classmates due to the school not wanting to have a black Valedictorian.
There are a lot of Delusional People in Relationships!!!! Why do people create situations in relationships when they do not exist, such as when you try to make believe your partner really likes you or trying to force them to like you. Why do some people continue to bother with the person after the person tells you they do not want you? What happens when the attraction reverse the roles? (Ex. The person who was your previous crush did not want you, but now they have a crush on you but you do not want them.) And Why is there always a Hook-Up Person?
Whole system health, the focus of Rethinking Health Matters with Linda Sechrist, addresses a variety of subjects on healthy lifestyle beyond prevention and wellness. To learn how individuals can be healthy and flourish within a vital community, the show investigates how the areas of finance and socially responsible investing, spiritual well-being, culture and education, land and nature stewardship, renewable energy, technology, community and governance, as well as the natural and built environments affect the health of the individual.
On January 3, filmmaker Katie Teague will talk about her inspiring documentary, Money and Life, which asks a provocative question: Rather than viewing the economic crisis as disastrous, can we view it as opportunities to shift our thoughts about money and thereby improve models of economic exchange?
An in-depth psychotherapist familiar with observing humanity, Katie uses the simple lens of storytelling to chronicle the complexity of money and economics. Her language of metaphors and analogies helps laypeople better recognize and understand convoluted economic concepts. As a therapist, she repeatedly sees how disconnections, due to eroding relationships with ourselves, our natural world and each other, are wreaking havoc on people and the planet.
Tune in from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., or download the show at your convenience, to hear how the core principle of the economy, money and currency is relationship itself and how we’ve unwittingly disempowered ourselves by entrusting too much power to middlemen like central banks and financial consultants, but are now realizing that we don’t need them.
An additional guest is Sharon Joy Kleitsch, founder of the Connection Partners, who is hosting Katie Teague in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area later this month.
