Oxitec, a British biotech company, plans to release an experimental mosquito population in the Florida Keys genetically engineered to combat dengue fever. Local residents are concerned for a number of reasons, such as the lack of testing done, and the sudden introduction of a non-native species into the local population.
Are mosquitoes just the tip of the iceberg? According to some accounts, genetically modified “micro humans” could be used in scientific testing within two years. Although the dangers of genetically engineered humans should be obvious, the benefits could outweigh the cost if there is the possibility of eradicating diseases and potentially find a cure for the greatest disease of all: aging and death.

“The Meeting” takes place in a Harlem hotel in 1965 and is symbolic in its depiction of a hypothetical meeting between two of the most important men of modern times, Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Factual words spoken by each have been woven into the dialogue. Differing in their philosophies, but alike in their mutual respect, the men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems.
Stetson’s stage play credits include: "Keep the Faith: A musical on the life and times of Adam Clayton Powell, Jr.", "Fraternity," “And the Men Shall Also Gather," and "To Play a Black Man;" to name a few. “The Meeting” has been produced in all fifty states and more than a dozen countries. It received eight N.A.A.C.P. Image Awards, including best play and best writer, as well as an Ohio State Achievement Award.

You often hear people say that the world is full of “arm-chair quarterbacks”, Micro-managers, “second-guessers” and “residential experts” but you never hear why so many of these types of people exist. If you were to ask them why so many, you would probably get a varied of answers none of which would satisfy the reasonable person. The truth of the matter is we, as people of the flesh, constantly embed a little bit of ourselves into everything we participate in whether invited or not and that fact ultimately leads us to becoming those arm chair quarterbacks, micro managers, second guessers ns so on. I see this as a flaw that we truly need to be aware of but I do not see it as a determent or danger. It is all a part of getting to know ourselves better than anyone else and once we can accomplish this, we can then and only then help others achieve this same level of spiritual growth that they need to earn their entry into heaven. We are not here to save souls, vice one, our own. We are here to gain as much knowledge about the lessons that Jesus left for us as possible, making us that near-perfect person that God has always known us to be. Once we have cleaned up our own house is when we can attempt to help others pick up around theirs.
