Most of us have faced the struggle of how to feed a child back to health who is sick with the flu or a cold. Some have dealt with nursing loved ones who have had ear infections, stomach bugs, chickenpox or bronchiolitis. Now, too many are now facing the difficult challenge of how to feed children with cancer; how to feed them while they are living through their treatment. That’s really tough. We are really excited to announce the launch of the HealthBarn USA Foundation’s program, “Healing Meals.” Founder, Stacey Antine, RDN (author: Appetite for Life) will explain how this program provides healing meals to children fighting cancer and their families. She will share her recipes so everyone facing feeding those with an illness can benefit from her nutritional wisdom and culinary expertise.
Have you ever thought of planting you meals? Why not? It is easier than you think. Our ancestors depended on seeds and soil to feed their families. Coop farming was common in communities which added to variety. You may be amazed to find out how little space you need to yield a lot of vegetables and herbs. Depending on where you live, berry bushes and fruit trees may also be an option. Our guest, Farmer Jay, will get you started with balcony, terrace and small plot gardening. Along with co-host, Stacey Antine RDN (HealthBarn USA), founder of Healing Meals and author of Appetite for Life, we will make it easy for you to begin to plant and harvest food for your family. Fresh food gardening is not only fun and rewarding; it will lighten up your grocery bill!
Most of us are not too far removed from knowing someone who has been diagnosed and received treatment for cancer. Most of us have also either heard of or experienced the struggles of loved ones and their caregivers who, while fighting to live, also fight to find a way to get proper nutrition during treatment. But, the chances are good that none of us have decided to make it our life’s purpose to change the world of cancer nutrition. This episode of Changing Direction features Susan Bratton, Founder and CEO of Meals To Heal. After being directly impacted by people in her life who suffered from poor nutrition during cancer treatments, Susan made it her mission to find a way to simplify how people access foods necessary to support proper immune health, increase energy, and decrease the chance of depression. A guest speaker at the upcoming Survivors Convention in Nashville, TN, Susan and Michele will discuss how her dedication and commitment are changing the direction and quality of life for cancer patients everywhere. Michele’s shows combine scientific research, cutting-edge guests and personal stories that highlight the challenges and successes of deliberately deciding to change the direction of your life. If you could use some inspiration, motivation, how-to strategy or just company along your own private journey, tune in for each episode's insights and suggestions guaranteed to help you move forward. Many people who wish to correct weight problems change eating habits, perhaps cutting down meals to one meal a day. Some have said that eating one meal a day is healthier. But others have said that cutting back food willsend the body into "starvation mode" and it will begin to retain food, and instead of losing weight, one begins to gain even more. So, which is healthier, one big meal a day or three small meals a day? What about fasting? Does fasting (choosing to not eat a meal) help the body or hurt the body? How should one fast?.

For many centuries in many countries, the kitchen is regarded as a sacred place. Many cultures prepare food in a way that heals. Hippocrates, the father of western medicine stated "let your food be your medicine, and your medicine your food". Food in it's natural whole state heals, denatured processed highly refined food will cause dis-ease.
