Jim McGreevey Snubbed by Hannah Montana

    in Comedy

    No Hannah Montana
    for Disgraced Governor
Did former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey try to bribe his way backstage a Hannah Montana concert? Yes, says WZAP Radio host Zachary Sang, who happened upon the disgraced pol at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., last year – and whose tale is recounted in the New York Post’s Page Six gossip column.

“I was at a Hannah Montana concert and [McGreevey] was trying to bribe the security guard to let him [backstage],” the student at Wayne Valley High School in nearby Wayne, N.J. – tells Dr. Blogstein’s Radio Happy Hour host Dr. Blogstein on this week’s edition of the show.

“They wouldn’t let him in, though. I carry my tape recorder with me everywhere I go where I think people are going to be around. So when he was done talking to the security guard by the door, I inched my way in, put my recorder in his face and started asking questions. I asked him why he was at a Hannah Montana concert and he just said that his daughter was there somewhere. But I didn’t see [her] anywhere," adds Zach, 15, who documented the interview on tape and later wrote about it in his school newspaper.

Jim, whose 2006 memoir, The Confession, chronicles the rise and falls of his political career, resigned from office in 2004 after admitting he’d “engaged in an adult consensual affair with another man.”

Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction in NJ

    in Current Events

September is National Recovery Month.  Join us for a special “Live From Trenton” broadcast as we discuss the work being done by the Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction in NJ by putting the spotlight on the Council’s 22 Annual Summit at the Hyatt Regency in New Brunswick.
We will speak with two of the principals participating in this event as we explore the important work being done to help individuals overcome addiction and educate others on the available resources for prevention.
Our guests will include former NJ Governor James McGreevey.  He works with the women of the Integrity House Program at the Hudson County Correctional Center. McGreevey presently guides and directs the Integrity House initiative's spiritual counseling as well as works with the women upon discharge to secure mentoring; a continued commitment to principles of recovery; and, reintegration into the Hudson County community.
We will also talk with Benjamin John Chin, a keynote speaker at the event.  Now 25 years old, Chin has been in recovery since age 19. He is currently a senior at Rutgers University majoring in Public Health and Linguistics, and plans to pursue a law degree with his sights set on influencing domestic health policy in the near future. All of Ben’s involvement on campus contributed to his development as a leader making it possible for him to become a founding member of the non-profit organization Young People in Recovery, which is a grassroots advocacy organization that mobilizes the voice of young people in recovery from addiction.
The Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction executes three core functions:  policy and planning; public awareness and education; and, the administration of the Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Program.

Guest:  Chris Wills -No More Tolls - Florida Constitutional Amendment - Petition

Join the effort to give Floridians the power to vote on tolls!  www.NoMoreTolls.us

Roads that have existed for decades without tolls, are having tolls added to them across Florida in communities including Miami-Dade, Tampa, Jacksonville and Orlando.

By 2020, Florida will have spent well over $6 BILLION to impose tolls on working families across the state, instead of investing those dollars into other long-term solutions to our transportation issues. [SOURCE: http://www.miamiherald.com/opinion/op-ed/article18800652.html#/tabPane=tabs-b0710947-1-1]

There is NO state-wide legal cap on tolls. Without a cap, tolling authorities could charge $20, $30 or even $40 for tolls.  Like FB https://www.facebook.com/events/776157685838004/

    Toll Abuse is Nationwide!

Guest: Bob Ahlers - "Pain at the Toll Plaza"

Bob Ahlers.  In 2000, Bob joined a New Jersey ad-hoc committee called Citizens Against Tolls, or CAT, whose goal was the elimination of tolls on the New Jersey Garden State Parkway.  In 2001, the elimination of tolls became a gubernatorial campaign issue when Jersey City Mayor Bret Schundler announced that if elected, he would eliminate Parkway tolls in nine months.  His opponent, Woodbridge Mayor James McGreevey, responded by also promising to eliminate Parkway tolls.  McGreevey won the election but quickly reneged on his pledge and actually added tolls on the Parkway. On Point For Love: Episode Six

    in Comedy

Senator McGreevey had hired an Israeli man who wasn't qualified for the job he was hired for. Though he was qualified for the job that McGreevey had in mind. This prompted a serious scandal that forced Senator McGreevey to resign and publicly admit that he's a homosexual. Though his wife was angry, the threesome with a male coworker before they go involved should have been a clue that something was wrong.
