The Legal Show Mercy Killing or Murder for Convenience? Part 2

    in Legal

Attorney Sarah Steele and writer Bennet Pomerantz discuss the subjects of the day.

The audience should know that although Ms. Steele is a licensed attorney, she is not offering legal advice in any capacity, is not establishing an attorney/client relationship with anyone listening to the show, and recommends that any listener of the show consult a local attorney for any legal advice they may require.

This show is about us discussing hot topics and how they relate to the law.

Continuing from last week, the hosts conclude their two part series on the controversial topic of mercy killings.  Tonight the hosts ask “sometimes isn’t a cigar just a cigar?” when they look at the case of Barbara Mancini.  Ms. Mancini, 57, of Philadelphia, was charged last summer with giving a nearly full bottle of morphine to her father, Joseph Yourshaw, at his Pottsville home in February 2013 for the purpose of helping him end his life. Yourshaw died at a hospital four days later after a hospice nurse called 911. The judge said that prosecutors had neither established that Yourshaw intended to take his own life, nor that Mancini helped him do it.  Join Bennet and Sarah as they conclude their series on so-called “mercy killings” and how they relate to the law.

Larry Smith: Entrepreneur and advocate for affordable legal access for all

    in Finance

    From the archives at www.livingwealthyradio.com

Many people don't come to grips with the reality of the astronomical cost of legal counsel in America until they find themselves involved in a lawsuit, get an unfair traffic ticket, or need to resolve a complex family issue.

The reality is that you stand a very great chance of becoming involved in a legal dispute or lawsuit at least once in your life.  The financial implications of these situations are huge sometimes resulting in financial hardship, the loss of a home, marital strife, or damage to reputation.

What if you had a way to inexpensively enlist the services of a top-notch attorney whenever the need arose, to assist you with everything from basic legal documents to criminal cases?

Larry Smith is a veteran entrepreneur and business leader who has discovered just that.  Larry's personal trials and challenges led him to join a company that provides top quality legal assistance to ordinary Americans for a price they can afford.  Larry thinks access to a good lawyer shouldn't have to be a special privilege of the wealthy and powerful and he'll discuss a way you can have good legal access for a fraction of the price.

The Legal Show Mercy Killing or Murder for Convenience? Part 1

Tonight we discuss the topic of mercy killings in this, our first, two part series. Jurors began deliberations in October in the trial of Gigi Jordan, the former Manhattan health-care executive who was accused of killing her 8-year-old autistic son.  Ms. Jordan was charged with killing her son with a cocktail of drugs in February 2010 and has never denied ending her son’s life. Her testimony offered a complex tale involving death threats from her former husband and claims that Jude communicated to her that he was being sexually abused and tortured by his biological father. On Wednesday, November 5th, during its fifth day of deliberations, a Manhattan jury accepted Ms. Jordan’s claims and found her guilty of manslaughter, rejecting the prosecution’s call for a murder conviction. Join Bennet and Sarah as they discuss the sensitive and controversial topic of “mercy killings” and how they relate to the law.
