    JuneTeenth is...

    in Politics

JuneTeenth is a celebration of freedom. An American celebration of freedom. A new beginning. It was JuneTeenth 1865, 2 1/2 years after slavery was no longer legal in America, that General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, TX to free the last American slaves. Texas seceded because of the intent to keep slaves. After all, slaves were property. Texans wasn't letting even the federal government take away their property. It took an army to free the last slaves. Freedom still had and still has prices to be paid. Bills were passed to help the freed slaves. But White men protested helping the now freed "Negroes". White men said helping freed slaves would only cause the Negroes to not want to sustain themselves. Ignorance of what. Today, the same statements are made. We work for little money. The results is working poor qualify for food stamps and other support services. Then GOP says poor people are not contributing to this country. Similar statements were made today by congress rep. Newt said poor children does not know anything about working for money. Newt said no one works in poor communities. These are words from the days of freedom for slaves. Slaves worked and built farms, companies, railroads, roads and byways. Slaves cooked, cleaned, raised animals, raised masters children, cared for livestock, created tools, with work skills the learned in Africa. Knowledge proved powerful. For the works of the slaves helped slaves to purchase their families and buy their own freedom. After all, . the greed of the White Wealthy Men reigned over all else. As is today for too many. JuneTeenth we celebrate a coming of age for America. Not just freedom of slaves. For a chain cannot be any stronger than its weakest link America. Together we stand. Divided we fall.

The Race Trim MotorSports Hour #19

    in Sports

It’s another rare Friday where the guys are forced to keep the Frat House Sports Garage open late – just too much work to do before tomorrow’s Saturday night NASCAR racing at Richmond International Raceway.

First though we're looking back over last Sunday’s “Bristol Marathon” which saw 11 cautions, four rain delays, and a G-W-C finish. Matt Kenseth picked up his first checkered since 2013 while the “Pesky Boys” were wrecking each other and Denny Hamlin, with sudden mysterious neck pain, was replaced with wunderkind Erik Jones. What to make of it all? The “guys in the garage” are chatting it up.

We’ve got rare Saturday night racing at Richmond and we’ll have our own Brandon on the ground track-side. While drivers like Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin have a history here, could we see Jeff Gordon or Tony Stewart get their first win of the season?

There’s drag racing going on this weekend at the Royal Purple Raceway, and Frat House Mike will be updating NHRA in his report on activities in Houston.

Uncle Mark is going Over the Wall; Sidekick’s got his Fantasy picks; and the rest of the guys are jumping in with their Eat-My-Dust Picks!

    As it’s Friday night, we’ve got the beer . . . if you’re stopping by, you bring the pizza . . . and your comments to the Frat House Sports Garage . . . by giving a call to 347 - 826 - 9964!

Spirit Travels Radio - David Oman

    in Paranormal

DAVID OMAN (Producer/Creator/Co-Writer) A native of Los Angeles, Oman has been intrigued by the paranormal from his early childhood and has been curious about the Spirit World ever since. In 1999 Oman started helping his father build the house on Cielo Drive, just down the drive from the infamous Sharon Tate Murders aka the Manson Murders – after 2 years of living in the house he created a story based upon his experiences in the home with the activity, titled House at the End of the Drive. He self financed the movie and shot it on location at his home and brought his story to life. Since he moved into the house the activity has been quite apparent so much so that the Oman house has been on seven paranormal reality shows, Ghost Hunters, Dead Famous Live, Searching for Satan, My Ghost Story, in July 2013 he was on History Channel 2 show, Haunted History and SyFy's, Paranormal Witness. February 15th 2014 the season 9 premiere episode of Ghost Adventures aired and it was the highest rated episode to date, it dealt with the investigation at the Oman house. Recently David was on Ghost Adventures After Shocks on March 28 2015. He has also been featured on Larry King Live, EXTRA and TMZ. His house has also been visited by Lisa Williams and James Van Pragh and they have had wild experiences here as well. Recently David has open up his home for private ghost investigation/tours with a paranormal research group to give people the chance to go on a real life ghost hunt just like the shows and your along for the ride of your life investigating one of America's most haunted locations. David said, “I wanted to give a few people the chance to experience a real life Paranormal Investigation like those on TV but we go all out with 14 infrared cameras canvassing the home and my team is made up of well seasoned investigators who are ready to help in any way possible”.

Striking a Positive Chord with Nihar Suthar

    in Motivation

Nihar is an award-winning writer, covering inspirational stories around the world. Believe it or not, he stumbled upon writing completely by accident after moving to New York City for the very first time. While in the Big Apple, Nihar noticed that there were thousands of people missing out on the greatness of everyday life, due to the very fast paced lifestyles they lived.

As a result of his observations, he had a big idea to inspire people around the globe by writing a book (which was strange, because he always hated reading books. Why would he ever write one?). With the support of his family and friends though, Nihar ended up debuting his first international book, Win No Matter What, with Balboa Press in June 2013.

Since then, his work has been featured in Washington Square News, U.S. News and World Report, The Huffington Post, and several podcasts. Nihar is now working on a new book, The Corridor of Uncertainty (a heart-warming narrative about the Afghanistan cricket team), which he hopes to release in 2015.
