    in Lifestyle

With all the talk about the Confederate Flag, I figured I would come out the box with a little something that you may not know.... and that little something is that there is a Flag that celebrates the freeing of salves. This flag is called the Juneteenth Flag. For black people that was a true celebration but don't sleep America, because  it also was the first time that we, as a nation, could say the words, The United States of America. This is an important event for all Americans. Read more about Juneteenth before the show airs  on 7/3/15 @ 3:30pm  http://tinyurl.com/qckushs

On this show Derrick Burnett will give you the latest info on an historic Juneteenth event that will happen in Baltimore on July 11th 2015. The sponsors are: HUBERT V SIMMONS MUSEUM OF NEGRO LEAGUE BASEBALL,  BALTIMORE COUNTY AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL FESTIVAL, BRIAN JORDAN FOUNDATION, THE CHARLES "CHOO" SMITH FOUNDATION, B&B EDUCATION AL SERVICES. Note that this was two and a half years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation - which had become official January 1, 1863. Listen to find out more about Juneteenth events for the 150th anniversary. http://www.juneteenth.com/history.htm

    Special guest T. J. Leonard

    in Music

Please join Miss Catherine as she welcomes  T J Leonard to the show.

Swedish country singer/songwriter, TJ Leonard got his first guitar from his grandfather, when he was eight; he taught his grandchild to play Swedish folk music and evergreens. Soon, TJ was introduced to pop and blues through his cousin, who was a little bit older and played in a famous Swedish pop band. At eighteen, TJ became lead singer and guitar player in a dance band. Many genres have passed through TJ’s life: Jazz, hard rock, gospel, soul/r&b, but not until country music came along, did it feel like home. Together with Tex Taylor, he started the band, CHESTNUT, in 2010. Later that year, they released their first single, “110% Country,” followed by the EP, American Dream. CHESTNUT played at most of the country festivals in Sweden and Denmark. In both 2012 and 2013, they were nominated in the Swedish Country Music Championships. In late 2013, TJ decided to release his songs under his own name, TJ Leonard.

“Remember Those Times” is the first single from this Top 100 CMT.com artist’s forthcoming MTS Records’ album release, High On Livin’.  The single was released on November 1, 2015.  The album is expected by December.  www.tjleonardcountry.com

The chat room will be opened for questions and comments.
    See you then!!

Who Says It's a Constitutional Convention? (Part 2)

    in US Government

What better way to celebrate Thanksgiving weekend than to learn some of the history behind the phrase "Constitutional Convention", as it has been, and continues to be, applied to describe the Constitution's Article V State authorized amending mode, a "convention for proposing amendments"?

We'll spend some time referencing multiple original source documents from hundreds of Article V State applications for an amending convention, asking the questions why, and how, the description was changed to "Constitutional Convention", and begin discussion of the implications of this change in nomenclature.

We'll spend a little bit of time with Convention of States news first.  And save some time for phone calls.

"That Provident Article" is hosted by Convention of States Texas volunteer Paul Hodson, with the Convention of States since late 2013, a District Captain in Texas from February 2014 through November 2015, and now serving as Co-Director for the Convention of States Texas.

For more infor visit www.USARK.org and the following on Crocfest:
Christmas Croc Fest 2015 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from noon until 10:00 pm at Crocodile Manor, Shawn Heflick’s facility, in Palm Bay, Florida. Proceeds raised at this year's event will benefit the West African slender-snouted crocodile, Mecistops cataphractus. Populations of the West African slender-snout have been isolated from the Central African group for over 7.5 million years, resulting in such morphological and genetic distinctions that taxonomic revisions are underway to recognize it as a unique species. Considered the least-known crocodile in the world, surveys in West Africa over the last ten years have detected fewer than 20 wild adults. In 2013, they were assigned a Critically Endangered classification on the IUCN Red List.

Live Interview With Flora Carter, I Survived...

    in Christianity

Ms. Flora Carter was borne on May 22, 1950.  She was raised with the best of both worlds and was able to experience the American and African culture growing up as her mother was from North Carolina and her dad was from Sierra Leone, Africa.  Her mom died when she was 11 and her dad raised her.  This resulted in Flor starting her independence early at age 17.  Flor is a product of the District of Columbia Public School system and attended college at Washington Technical Institute.  She has always been a hard working person which was instilled early by her dad.  She started working in middle school, at the nurses' office at school and has worked in the Federal Trade Commission, Department of Energy, the Justice Department and several contracting positions.  She retired in 2013 from International Monetary Fund where she worked in record management.  She has on daughter and two granddaughters.

Flora fought to overcome verbal, physical, financial, and sexual abuse.  She has worked to help others understand and know that domestic violence is a choice that should not be made.  She says, "The cycle must be broken.  I am not a victim, but victorious, I am a survivor.  I now educate and advocate with perons to end the cycle."

Join me Hezekiah L. Montgomery host of The Man In The Mirror and Co-Host Nichelle Johnson as we welcome this dynamic survivor to The Man In The Mirror platform.  She'll tell us more about her story, and share with us how the Lord is now using her to help stop domestic violence one victim at a time.  We'll find out how she helps turn them from victims to victors and become as she says victorious.  Just a reminder that Domestic Violence Is Real!!!

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1235

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Deborah Dooley from Denver, Colorado, a NAASCA family member who's making her first appearance as a special guest on our show. "The support of the unity of your organization has already impacted me," she told us some time ago. "I already felt great about even making contact with you and knowing what you are doing that it gave me a refreshed hope about my own journey of healing." Deborah's a proud member of the Christian community, but also wrote me that she recognized the benefit of using a 12 step "design for living" for child abuse recovery, saying, "Many times, I have thought about how valuable it would be to have a 12 step program for abuse issues that could translate to help all people since the 12 step is so effective in its use." A 12 step program encourages belief in a Power greater than oneself, of course, but allows for a God as you understand Him. She said, "I, personally, hope to go through this 12 step program that you have developed" (please see www.ASCA12step.org). Deborah was born in Hawaii but lives in Denver now, and tells us she's the proud mother of a daughter who unfortunately ended her life in July 2013 after a long series of very traumatic circumstances. "My life up until her death was focused on getting her safe from abuse by her dad since the courts don't protect kids from this," she says, "and there's no place to turn for help at this point to protect your child. I am now working on what is the best and most expedient solution for the courts." She believes that these kinds of preventable tragedies can be stopped from happening to children and families. Deborah hopes to work toward making our country be more loving towards its children.
