Amy Alkon's Advice Goddess Radio: "Nerd Your Way To A Better Life!" with the best brains in science.
("Best Of" replay.) Decisions that we make that seem stupid can actually make a lot of evolutionary sense, meaning that they would have made sense in the ancestral world; they just don’t make sense in the world in which we now live.
Unfortunately, we can’t just tell our genes, “Hey, it’s 2013! There are no hungry tigers roaming the streets of Baltimore and, by the way, my girlfriend’s on The Pill.”
But, my guest tonight, evolutionary psychologist, psychologist and marketing professor Dr. Vladas Griskevicius, is going to give us the background to make wiser choices by helping us understand the ways we can be primed to act against our modern interests.
His fascinating book, co-authored with Dr. Douglas Kenrick, is “The Rational Animal: How Evolution Made Us Smarter Than We Think.”
Join me and all my fascinating guests every Sunday, 7-8 p.m. Pacific Time, 10-11 p.m. Eastern Time, at blogtalkradio.com/amyalkon or subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher.

Relationships - Self Love Relationship - Loving self means caring about self, taking responsibility for self, respecting self, and truly knowing self-being realistic and honest about one's strengths and weaknesses. In order to be able to truly love another person, a person needs first to love self in this way.
Loving yourself is an important part of enjoying and getting the most out of your life. It's also crucial for getting and maintaining satisfying relationships with others. Loving yourself is mainly having self-respect, which is one dependable way to create love in your own life. To be able to be loved, you must love and respect yourself as much as you do others.
Aiming for Perfection is always great, but stop criticizing yourself for being anything less. Always do your best, not reaching perfection does not mean failure. High expectations of self are meant to help better fulfill you not to torment you. Remember that no matter what, you will always be perfect just the way you are, flaws and all (always put forth wiser and healthier efforts to improve self). OH YES! You are all that and then some!!

Are you caught up in the Holiday Hype or is your HEART in a space of peace and love, for SELF and others? Which is what I believe this Holiday Season is about.
As I become wiser and more mature I have come to realize that materialistic items will always be there and those items have NO FEELING! Yes they are fun to receive and to play with, yet when it is all said and dome we lay those items down !
What is important to you as you move through the Holidays? Is it having all perfect, and being a star, is it enjoying what comes, it is nothing at all? WHERE IS YOUR HEART THIS HOLIDAY?
Join Women of Wisdom Lynda Kennedy and BUZZARDSKORNER OF LOVE RADIO as we answer that question to the best of our abilities! We can choose to either get caught up in the Holiday Hype and how that does not serve us and a better way that we can choose to experience this Holiday Season, or NOT!
Life is always in ALL-WAYS Angels a choice. WHERE IS YOUR HEART THIS HOLIDAY?

bringing people back to themselves
Kick your week off with a blast of wisdom on Mentoring Monday, presented by 4wordwomen.org. This show features Joy Eggerich-
Joy Eggerichs serves as the Director of Love and Respect Now. She began her journey in ministry working as the Love and Respect Conference Coordinator for her parents, Dr. Emerson and Sarah Eggerichs. Over time, she noticed a trend: people would come out of the conference sessions saying, “Why didn’t anyone teach us this before we got married? If only I knew then, what I know now.”
Fueled by a passion to provide this information to her generation, Joy launched a division of Love and Respect that she appropriately titled “Love and Respect Now.” She has researched 18-35 year olds and desires to serve the next generation of people who are single, dating, or married.
In 2013 Joy released a 6-week small group study called The Illumination Project. A candid conversation with her father, Emerson Eggerichs, The Illumination Project was filmed in front of a live audience of 1,300 18-35 year olds and exemplifies Joy’s heart to get her generation discussing faith, life, and relationships. Focusing on asking questions to gain wisdom from those who have gone ahead, The Illumination Project also serves as a unique tool to connect with older, wiser counsel.
Joy will also be publishing her first book called, "Permanent Vertigo - How life and love cause us to question our own sanity and God's goodness." Coming soon.
This show is sponsored by Gracefully-Yours greeting cards and Sermon Note journals. Visit www.shop.gracefully-yours.com for specials.
"Every generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it." ~ George Orwell
The fashion. The music. The selfies. The texting and tweeting.
If you're a middle-aged baby boomer, you've probably found yourself shaking your head on more than one occasion when trying to understand millenials. The glaring differences between the generations are often hard to ignore. Sometimes this fuels misunderstandings and misjudgments that tend to create a culture of cynism and distrust. But once you get past the differences, you'll find that there is plenty that each generation can learn from the other.
If you have a millenial in your life that you struggle to understand and relate to, you'll want to tune in today. We're chatting with Christin Taylor, a professor who has worked with millenials for 10 years, and author of the new book, Crew: Finding Community When Your Dreams Crash. Tune in as she teaches you what it takes to bridge the generational gap and reach out to the young adults in your life.

Does God place more value on marriage, or singleness? Study’s have shown that single people vs. married couples spend there time differently. Yet, for Christian relationships, which is more important? The classification of your relationship status, the value you place in your time regardless of status, or both? All this and more, next, on the EYIC Radio Network airing Monday, 10/13/14 from 8pm to 10pm EST. The call in number is (949) 272-9514; press 1 to speak with host.
