Rosh Hashanah is a two-day celebration of the Jewish New Year. Eight days after that, we have Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, Thus, the High Holidays are these two different holidays, separated over the course of 10 days. On Yesterday's show, we had trivia questions and riddles, designed to give you an overview of these holidays. Carla Lynne Hall, who is not Jewish, was our special guest and she did great! http://www.tobtr.com/s/6944503
Today, Carla Lynne Hall is back with us as we delve into gratitude, reflection and forgiveness, notable for this solemn time for Jews and for people of all religions anytime. You can;t have an opinion in this world with out your words being filtered on Facebook. Feminists and Gays can parade around in public wearing next to nothing but I can't say "Fag", "Queer" or "Homo" or "Dyke"? Get the f--k outta here!
Dr. Brant Pitre uses the Hebrew Scriptures and Jewish tradition to frame the actions of Jesus at the Last Supper, and to provide a fresh look at the heart of Catholic practice--the Eucharist. By taking us back to the Jewish roots of our faith, Dr. Pitre gives us a powerful lens through wich to see anew the bread of the presence, the manna, the Last Supper, and ultimately the meaning of the Eucharist. The Jewish New Year begins tonight at sundown, with 2 days of Rosh Hashanah. A New Moon also begins today. Because of powerful cosmic vibrations, every New Moon is an important event. However, when it coincides with Rosh Hashanah, it is even more powerful because of the massive amount of extra energy that is released from prayers, meditations and serious reflection of millions of people, and from the blowing of the Shofar (an instrument made of a ram's horn.) The 100 blasts during Rosh Hashanah are said to blast through negativity in order to clear the way for more positive energy and positive human experiences. You do not have to be Jewish to benefit from the powerful energy that begins today and ends on Saturday, Oct. 4 with Yom Kippur. Use this time for reflection, introspection, and to put forth your intentions and desires. You can use rituals, which are common on the New Moon. Though rituals are not necessary, they strongly affect and influence your subconscious mind. Join Beverly Nadler to find out more about how you can benefit from this very special New Moon.

"The Synagogue in Christian Society: Part 2"
Since the days of Christ and the apostles, Church-vs-Synagogue relations have been anything but good. What started as a movement within Judaism became a separate movement all its own. The hostility was compounded by the Synagogue's reaction to what it called a heretical sect. The Church responded with over-reaction. The rancor increased over centuries, and as the Church became mainstream in formerly pagan society, the Old Testament "People of the Book" were increasingly marginalized and persecuted. In the midst of all this, and DESPITE it all, many Jews came to believe that Jesus of Nazareth was indeed the promised Messiah. This Thursday we look at it all more closely in the 2nd of a 5-part series. Tune in and take notes! Your host, Rev. Rick Anderson on "Jewish Roots", each Thursday at 9:30 pm EDT. Listen LIVE at www.blogtalkradio.com/fougcrew or through Twitter, LinkedIn, GooglePlus and facebook.com/fougcrew. To call with a comment or question: 347-324-5750.
From Crusades to Reformation: The Jews in Christian Society
Part 3 of our 5-part series begins with the Church supreme in Europe, yet compromised by gross superstition, a defection from the doctrines of Christ, and an entrenched suspicion and hatred of the Jews. Christian armies march east to free Jerusalem's holy sites from the Muslims, but as they go, they mete out vengeance on the Jews, stirred on by the words of Guibert of Nogent: "We desire combat with the enemies of God in the East, but we have under our eyes the Jews, a race more inimical to God than all the others. We are doing this whole [Crusade] thing backwards." This series attempts to explain the reasons why the Jewish community has seen fit to reject the claims of Jesus as taught by the Church, but explains as well why some have not followed this path. Tune in and take notes! Your host, Rev. Rick Anderson on "Jewish Roots", an Internet pod-cast each Thursday at 9:30 pm EDT. Listen LIVE at www.blogtalkradio.com/fougcrew. To call with a comment or question: 347-324-5750.
A homosexual man is suing two major Christian Publishers because the Bible versions they published refer to homosexuality as a sin. Who’s right? Did the publishers cross the line of political correctness? Should the Bible conform to modern lifestyles and advances in society?
