The VA's Homeless Veterans Community Employment Services (HVCES) program helps homeless veterans re-enter the workforce and is a valuable community partner for workforce development organizations.
The Veterans Health Administration's Homeless Veteran Community Employment Services program provides wraparound services to Veterans exiting homelessness that enable them to successfully connect with businesses and return to employment. "This unique population is highly motivated and actually has a varied skill set from which employers can benefit," shared Dr. Carma Heitzmann, Director of VA's HVCES program. "Getting formerly homeless veterans into gainful employment and supporting them during that critical first year back in the labor force increases their success in both the workforce and in maintaining their housing status." In this Workforce Central radio show from the National Association of Workforce Boards, President/CEO Ron Painter interviews Dr. Heitzmann to share the details of the HVCES program and how workforce development organizations can form partnerships and engage locally assigned Community Employment Coordinators to successfully place formerly homeless veterans into employment. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more about this valuable resource available to your region.
The TalentCulture #TChat Show is back live in the New Year on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, from 1-2 pm ET (10-11 am PT).
Last week we talked about how to create the ultimate hiring experience, and this week we’re going to talk about why the best recruitment means smarter workforce marketing.
Today’s hiring economy is highly complex and competitive and finding top talent is harder than ever. If fact, attracting candidates and retaining current employees is a lot like attracting and retaining customers.
Candidates want to be valued and have an engaging and transparent experience and how you treat them has a direct impact on your brand. In today’s digital age, where people share experiences online, a poor candidate experience can be bad for business and translate to millions in lost revenue annually.
The fact is we are all job seekers and perpetual candidates, even if we’re currently happily employed. And candidates are the hiring organization’s to lose before they even think about applying for a job.
Today both employers and candidates alike are responsible for creating and marketing their brands — which can give both a symbiotic and differentiating competitive edge.
Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as they talk about why the best recruitment means smarter workforce marketing with this week’s guest: Abby Euler, Talent Acquisition Evangelist at IBM Smarter Workforce.

Last week we talked about how to make meetings worth everyone’s time, and this week we’re going to talk about the benefits of a blended workforce and the staffing challenges it brings.
The way we used to work is gone. The days of primarily being full-time or part-time have given way to the blended workforce — those individuals working as independent contractors, freelance workers and self-employed entrepreneurial talent side-by-side their full-time brothers and sisters.
Employers are now hiring record numbers of contingent workers and relying increasingly on this mix to achieve their goals. Not only that, these workers are happier, have achieved greater work-life integration and are profiting on their own. That’s welcome news for employers and workers looking to improve their opportunities.
But building and managing this blended workforce presents challenges on almost every front—particularly when it comes to effectively sourcing and hiring contingent workers. Employers need to think about — and hire — talent differently.
Join TalentCulture #TChat Show co-founders and co-hosts Meghan M. Biro and Kevin W. Grossman as they talk about the benefits of a blended workforce and the staffing challenges it brings with this week’s guest: Sunil Bagai, Founder and CEO of Zenith Talent, innovators of the powerful new staffing model for the contingent workforce called Crowdstaffing.

The second part of the series, Post-Secondary Education and Students with Disabilities
Many young adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) are leaving high school and considering post secondary education programs. Until recently, there were not many opportunities for students with ID to have access to post secondary education. What began through the efforts of a few individuals and institutes of higher education has developed into a movement of many who share the belief that all students should have access to post secondary education opportunities that lead to employment and independent living opportunities. ?
This episode is a continuation of our series on Post Secondary Education for Students with Intellectual Disabilities. In this episode we will discuss the definition of inclusion, the stimulus behind the spark of inclusion in higher education, post secondary education Comprehensive Transition Programs, accommodations in Comprehensive Transition Programs, support for students with intellectual disabilities in higher education, and anticipated outcomes for students with disabilities attending post secondary education.
