    Blind Descent with Brian Dickinson

    in Self Help

Get ready for an inspiring story of faith and determination! Coach Cafe welcomes Brian Dickinson, author of Blind Descent: Surving Alone and Blind on Mount Everest.  Roughly 1,000 feet from the summit of Mount Everest – also known as “the death zone”--Brian's Sherpa guide was forced to turn back after falling ill.  Brian had to decide whether to push forward alone to the summit of Mt. Everest or turn back.

After carefully weighing his options, Dickinson decided to continue up alone. Just four hours later, Dickinson solo summited the highest peak in the world.  As Brian prepared to descend back down the mountain's 29,035 feet, his vision suddenly became blurry, his eyes started to burn, and within seconds he was rendered almost completely blind.

Alone at the top of the world, low on oxygen, and stricken with snow blindness Brian was forced to inch his way back down the mountain relying only on his Navy survival training, his gut instinct, and most importantly, his faith.

Tune in to hear Brian's gripping story and how it has impacted his life, faith and what he has to share about empowerment and overcoming challenging situations in life.

Are You Blind to Your Own Blind Spots? Take the Test!

    in Self Help

In this thirty minute episode Susan Lager co-hosts with Meredith Richardson, a mediator and conflict coach who knows all too well how people, especially when in conflict, can be totally blind to their own emotional blind spots. When we refuse to acknowledge aspects of our personalities or behavior which may be obvious to others we live in a state of denial, ultimately cutting ourselves off from better choices in life.

Tune into this episode to learn about a simple test which can tell you whether you may have blind spots running the show, and to develop some strategies for "seeing the emotional light" more clearly. You'll be amazed at how these tools can open up your life to new possibilities!

    Country Sweetheart: Josey Milner

    in Country Music

Josey Milner is  part small town teen, part road-worthy country starlet, and at only 17 years old, she turned heads and changed hearts with her debut US single, “Not Pretty Enough.” The song thrust Josey into the country music spotlight, launching her anti-bullying campaign with Angels and Doves, earning her a 2013 Independent Country Music Award nomination for Promising Young Artist, a Top 10 Hottest New Artist designation, and a Number One single on the world’s first independent country music chart, Indie World.  Now, 18 and a recent Magna Cum Laude high school graduate, Josey has taken her initial successes to greater heights with “Cowgirls.”

“Cowgirls” was recorded at Awestruck Studios with her “Not Pretty Enough” production team of Micah Burdick and Matthew Russo (Hall and Oates.) Mastering engineer, Larry Gann (John Rich, Elton John) also played drums on the track, with Jimmy Mattingly (Dolly Parton, Reba, Garth) on fiddle and Smith Curry (Jason Aldean, Randy Travis) on pedal steel.  The single was released to country radio in November 2013, and it reached #1 on the New Music Weekly country charts and Top 75 on Music Row! “Cowgirls” is a boot-kicking, foot stomping dance anthem that has country radio fans
singing along with this down-home darling…
