While KaliSara is presenting at Heartland Pagan Festival this weekend, RevKess will be chatting with new Pagan musician Bran Cerddorion about his debut album, "Four Branches: Tales of the Mabinogi in Song"
Bran is a bard at heart, inspired by the realms in which myth, Nature, and dream come together. As a practitioner of Druidry and the Bardic arts, he focuses the creative flow of the Awen into writing songs that promote peace, a reverence for the world around us, and the stories we tell each other, but not without a touch of humor. He began playing music around 2007-08 when his brother taught him to play the mandolin, and together they wrote and played many a song. He shortly picked up the guitar as he developed an interest in the Paganism, Druidry, and Bardistry, and continues to craft his music in a Celtic-inspired folk tradition.
His upcoming freshman album, "Four Branches: Tales of the Mabinogi in Song," tells the tales of the Welsh Mabinogion, and is scheduled to be released in summer 2015.
Bran can be found on Facebook and his website.
Jay and Ian Welsh continue the discussion rerun last week regarding the need to develop a new ideology in the face of the failure of our technocratic centrist elite to deal with the consequences of the petroleum economy:
A powerful ideology is a scary thing. If your ideology isn’t strong enough, doesn’t create enough fervent belief that people will die for it, then it won’t change the world. But if it does create that level of fervent belief, then it will be misused, so the question is simply: will this do more harm than good?
An ideology which leads to us killing a billion or more people with climate change, let me posit, is a bad ideology. At the end of its run, neo-liberalism will kill more people than Marxist-Leninism did, and will be thought of by our grandchildren as monstrous. Most of them will no more be able to understand how we submitted to it or even believed in it than we can understand how Hitler or Stalin or PolPot or Mao came to power. Hyperbole? Not in the least, because the body count is going to be phenomenal.
THIS WEEK, HOSTS AKIA UWANDA AND NICOLE LESTER INTERVIEW THE MULTI-TALENTED ACTOR, IAN VERDUN!
Ian has made a notable impression as a versatile mixed race actor. He has made a remarkable name for him as an actor, writer, and producer in the Hollywood industry. As a California Institute Of The Arts alumnus, Ian graduated with B.F.A. From there, he began his journey as a working actor where he guest starred in a few independent films and commercials.
His true success started from when Ian was placed in the ABC Diversity Showcase. From there, he starred in ABC’s Last Resort, General Hospital and Grey’s Anatomy. Recently, Ian wrote, produced and starred in his new pilot series Life’ s A Drag, a TV show centered around a failed actor (Verdun) who turns to the life of drag to make some extra money. This series explore sexuality, identity, and the crippling expectation that comes along with growing older.
Ian is an ambassador for bringing awareness to the lackluster amount of diversity in the Hollywood industry. He is also involved in varies charities that brings world equality towards genders and races.
Ian's been raising a bit of ruckus these days. You can read about his history of the failure of the netroots to influence Democratic politics and therefore US policy makers, which engendered a number of reactions. This week we discuss the issues embodied in three of Ian's recent posts:
