Business of Style - Understanding Line & Design presentation at AICI Global

    in Business

Listen as Clare Maxfield AICI CIP interviews Joanne Rae AICI CIP on her upcoming AICI Global conference presentation - Business of Style - Understanding Line & Design, this August 27th 2015 in Washington DC.

Polls show that 42% never find clothes to fit; the reason, there is no standardization in women’s sizes! Ready-to-wear garments have become virtually the norm and labels mean more than fit. Bottom line; regardless of our body type, fit is always of supreme importance. Our clothing can make us appear slimmer, larger, or taller. We can use the correct fit of a garment to emphasize or de-emphasize a particular area. In this session you’ll learn the skill of identifying ‘Design Lines’ and ‘Proportions’ within ready-made garments. We will introduce to you to the same skills used by designer tailors on how the use of horizontal, vertical, symmetrical & asymmetrical lines, scale and proper measurements will impact the way you shop in the future and dress your clients with spectacular results.

    Two Moments

    in The Bible

For most of us, there is only the unattended
Moment, the moment in and out of time,
The distraction fit, lost in a shaft of sunlight,
The wild thyme unseen, or the winter lightning
Or the waterfall, or music heard so deeply
That it is not heard at all, but you are the music
    While the music lasts.

We are living in time.......the wrong time.......Time, that master of order in the world of history, has been associated with Chronos and Kairos.......the two archetypal markers of time, Chronos, horizontal and superficial, Kairos  vertical, leading into the depths. Chronos  is that logical, mighty, keeper of clocks and calendar, of past and future, while Kairos is a portal to the eternal now, the present,  the Truth.......and like dancers on the stage of eternity, these two aspects of time are locked in an eternal tango in which the ever-present Chronos  sets the rhythm and beat for an unfolding reality. Kairos  confounds us with the color and flow of Truth, which tantalize us with a sense of new possibilities.......ancient words from the eternal reveal and then conceal themselves once more. As Kairos  dips and swirls into awareness, we grasp for the  filaments of an alternate and complementary reality that seems, often, to withdraw just as we reach out. Kairos  introduces intuitive sparks of possibilities that slip in and out of the pattern of order established by Chronos. Kairos  is a portal to an eternal dimension that is home to our souls.

Prepare for the Internet of Things Data Blitz

    in Technology

As enterprises steadily connect production equipment, transportation networks, environmentals, and other technologies, those organizations will face the challenges of analyzing, digesting, and acting on volumes of new data. No, we won't throw a switch and suddenly have an Internet of Things, but it is something that will evolve in the coming years, and it could pick up its early momentum in the enterprise space.

Now, how are you going to bring all of that data into enterprise applications, and discover benefits?

Steve Sarracino of Activant Capital will join All Analytics Radio at noon (ET) on December 16 to outline some of the opportunities and challenges for the IoT in the enteprise realm. Steve is a founding partner of Activant, and has been deeply involved in funding and advising companies that provide enterprise applications in the vertical and horizontal spaces.

In this session you will learn:

Why the people tasked with collecting the data on the IoT may have the toughest job
What role dashboards play in viewing IoT data
How your organization can navigate the hard road to predictive analytics
How you can someday enable sensor-driven decision making

The "Old Rugged Cross" Gospel (O Evangelho da "Velha e Rude Cruz")

    in Christianity

and he who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Matthew 10:38
Crucifixion was a method of execution used in antiquity and common in both Rome and Carthage. Was to torture the condemned and force him to take up the place of execution the horizontal bar of the cross, which was already the vertical part stuck in the ground. With open arms, the condemned was nailed to the wood by the wrists and feet and died, after hours of exhaustion, by asphyxiation and cardiac arrest. In this act, combined the elements of shame and torture. The punishment of crucifixion began with scourging, after the offender has been stripped of his garments. In Case soldiers fixed their nails, pieces of bone, and the like, may torture the scourging be so strong that sometimes plagued died as a result of the scourge violência. All punishment was committed to this defendant being bound to a column. Sunday, 6th, 2pm EST\1pm CST\12 pm MST\11 am PST - USA

The true America flag with Roger

    in Politics Conservative

The people of the United States actually have two national flags: one for our military government and another for the civil. Each one has fifty stars in its canton and thirteen red and white stripes, but there are several important differences.

Although most Americans think of the Stars and Stripes (above left) as their only flag, it is actually for military affairs only. The other one, meant by its makers for wider use (peacetime), has vertical stripes with blue stars on a white field (above right). You can see this design, which bears civil jurisdiction, in the U.S. Coast Guard and Customs flags, but their service insignias replace the fifty stars.

I first learned of the separate, civil flag when I was reading Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter, published in 1850. The introduction, titled "The Custom House," includes this description:

From the loftiest point of its roof, during precisely three and a half hours of each forenoon, floats or droops, in breeze or calm, the banner of the republic; but with the thirteen stripes turned vertically, instead of horizontally, and thus indicating that a civil, and not a military post of Uncle Sam's government, is here established.

It took me two years of digging before I found a picture that matched what he was describing: my second clue was an original Illuminated History of North America (1860). If this runs against your beliefs, look up those two references.

History book publishers contribute to the public's miseducation by always picturing the flag in military settings, creating the impression that the one with horizontal stripes is the only one there is. They don't actually lie; they just tell half the truth. For example, the "first American flag" they show Betsy Ross sewing at George Washington's request, was for the Revolution - of course it was military.

    Dude, What Constitution?

    in Politics Conservative

Tommy Vietor-NSC mouthpiece, said, “Dude, that was like two years ago,” when asked about Benghazi attack talking points; sounding like Sec State, Clinton, “what difference does it make?”  The Right uses this as an electoral peprally for conservatives, the Left dismisses it is a ‘phony scandal.’ If government does not the defend rights to life, liberty and property, especially for those in the Foreign Service and military overseas, why bother having it at all?

Our Republic was founded on certain principles among which are recognition of self-evident truths regarding Natural Rights, private property (inviolable, not absolute), the rule of law and the separation of powers, both horizontal and vertical.

Without the unwritten law of honor, virtue and duty, our rights exist, but they cannot be exercised. Government is administered by bureaucratics who act like boys gone wild in a frat house. Laws are written by rent-seekers who desire privilege more than service. Most people are placated by rhetoric, anger is ameliorated by vitriol hurled at the ‘other side.’

It's overwhelming, but take courage because change is coming. Will it be long, slow, almost imperceptible change down the road to serfdom, or an uphill battle of changing course to restore the permanence of principle applied to the ever-changing world in which we live. To you belongs the duty, dude.

Tyranny is assured UNLESS liberty-loving people can band together against the rising tide of oligarchy. Grassroots conservatives and libertarians MUST work together to ensure the restoration of constitutionally limited government. End the imperialist police state-to defeat the Democrat-Socialists, first you MUST CRUSH the RINOs, for liberty!
